Comments about Orage Alaskan Jacket - Men's - '07 Closeout:
Orage and Arc'Teryx are the two highest, top-of-the-line brands that you can ever buy. Yes, they are at least one notch, if not two or three, above North Face and Mountain Hardware. Though the REI description does not mention it, this jacket is 20,000-twill waterproof rated, the highest rating possible. What this means is that this jacket is completely breathable, and you can basically swim in Lake Tahoe in the middle of January and still stay warm and dry. Make sure that you wear proper non-cotton (I cannot stress this enough to all the gapers that wear cotton and/or jeans while skiing/boarding) base layer and a soft shell for those really cold days.Another testament to this jacket's greatness is when I had to shovel snow for the last two days, two hours yesterday and three hours today. The jacket was completely dry. Bone dry. I actually had to unzip it because even after opening all of the vents, I was still too hot. My cheapy Fox Sports Racing pants, however, were soaked after standing in knee-deep snow for a couple of hours. This jacket is also a steal at REI-Outlet. [@]
