      Comments about Michelin City Trekking Tire - 700 x 32 / 35:

My commute round trip is 34 miles. I do it full time in the summer and at least 3 or 4 days in the winter depending on the weather.
I honestly feel sorry for the people that had negative experiences with these tires. Aside from being a little heavy they have been great.
My ride is mostly streets and trails but, debris is never hard to come across. These tires have handled it all. I have a City Pilot in the front and city trekking in the rear, both 32c.
Great tires in my opinion and no sidewall troubles as mentioned by others. Not yet!!

I got these to replace my badly worn original tires after 2500 miles. They were the only two tires in stock in the size I wanted at the store. I really liked them at first, but today, after 2 months and about 500 miles, the sidewall broke open, and I ended up with a flat.

Thanks to REI, I was able to return it without issue. I should have paid more attention to the other reviews.

Don't buy these if you ride regularly.

          Comments about Michelin City Trekking Tire - 700 x 32 / 35:

I commute about 90 miles a week in all weather in Phoenix Arizona.

I have tried three sets thinking that I had only got a bad batch and based on the recommendations of bike shop techs, but on all of them I found weak sidewalls (I have had three blow outs.) Also, the bead self-destructs when being changed, which makes it almost impossible to change after the second or third flat.

          In defense of these tires:
-the extreme heat here may be a contributing factor to their failure.
-A lifetime of 500-1000 miles may be acceptable to a casual rider, but not to a serious commuter.
-It is still a fairly inexpensive 85 psi tire, and for those who didn't know, generally the higher the tire pressure, the easier it rolls.

                Comments about Michelin City Trekking Tire - 700 x 32 / 35:

Had a catastrophic rear tire failure, so I nursed the bike to the local bike shop. Wanted to put on a set of Vittoria Randonneurs, but nobody in Anchorage stocks them. Ended up at REI. The only tire in the rack that was 700/32 - the Michelin City.

Bought two, 'cause the front had 15,000 miles plus on it and looked pretty rough. So I changed them out in the REI parking lot.

Tire fit is good - not too tight and not too loose. Bead set straight on the first try, and pumped up to pressure (85 lbs) without issue.

First off, these tires are fatter and taller than "normal" 700/32's. I've run Continentals, Vittorias and Schwalbes. Had to mess around for about 20 minutes to get the new tires to fit under the fenders.

Secondly, these tires ride quite a bit softer and squishier than other tires. Rolling resistance seems to be somewhat higher. So, I pumped them up another 5 lbs (yeah, it's over the max recommended, but I always run my tires with a bit more psi). The higher pressure made them roll easier, but the tires still squirm over medium rocks. The sidewalls are definitely less firm.

As for grip, these tires don't hold the road as well as I would like. On some wet surfaces, the front tire will squirrel out, giving one that super-fast rush of adreneline one gets when one feels slightly out of control while cars and trucks are whizzing by just a few feet away. Loose gravel in the turn also causes a rush if one lays the bike over for a hard corner.

I now have about 200 miles on these tires, and as soon as I can get a new set of Vittoria's, I'll take them back for a refund.

Bought two of these tires to replace the cheap tires that came with my new Bianchi hybrid. Riding in Santa Fe you are going to hit patches of dirt and have encounters with goat heads. These tires hold up well under the extreme conditions in Santa Fe.

                  Comments about Michelin City Trekking Tire - 700 x 32 / 35:

I bought a set of these to replace the overused tires that came with my bike. At first I wasn't too pleased with them, as they didn't corner very well - I had the feeling they were going to slip out from under me. After a bit of a break-in period (50-75 miles), they softened up and are much more comfortable.

Lower rolling resistance, but they seem to like to sit at a lower PSI than most semi-slicks I've tried in the past. I did crack a rim when using these tires, but there was no stopping it with that pot-hole. No punctures as of ~1000+ miles (there are occasional broken bottles on my route).

Bottom line - A good tire for the cash. I don't expect to get thousands of miles and zero punctures - but I have a tire I can count on for awhile.

                  Comments about Michelin City Trekking Tire - 700 x 32 / 35:

I really liked these tires for a while. When I replaced the stock tires that came with my bike, I had a noticeable increase in my average speed. They handle well on the road and generally seemed to be good tires.

Then I started getting flats -- a lot of flats. I put in puncture resistant tubes, which helped a bit, the tires seemed to wear out pretty quickly, my most recent tire wore out after less than 1,000 miles. I decided to give up on these tires after I narrowly avoided a very bad situation when one of the sidewalls failed causing a blow-out.

For a low mileage rider, I would probably recommend these, but for a regular commuter, I would go for something a bit stronger.

                  Comments about Michelin City Trekking Tire - 700 x 32 / 35:

I rode this tire on my rear wheel for over 2,000 miles in an urban environment (San Jose, CA), and didn't get a single flat. Just put on a new one last week (old one was getting worn).

The cost of the puncture resistance is weight: 1.2 pounds of rotational mass. The weight is worth-it in my mind, but it puts this review at 4 stars instead of 5.

A bonus is that this tire fits nicely on my wheels. The bead is plenty snug, but I don't dread putting the tire on like I do with some impossibly tight tires.

Max pressure is 87psi. Feels like it has reasonably low rolling resistance and good handling, but I'm not an expert on these things.

Bottom line: heavy, puncture-proof tire that's a solid commuting/all-around/touring tire and a good value at this price.

                  Comments about Michelin City Trekking Tire - 700 x 32 / 35:

Bought these tires in August have about 1,600 miles on them. Today the sidewall failed on the rear tire. My average daily commute is about 40 miles on road and bike path from NW Washington, DC to Beltsville, MD. The root cause appears to be fatigue failure in the sidewall that is allowing the inner tube to push trough it (think hernia). This may be since the sidewall is the weak link between the hard aluminum rim and the hard puncture resistant tread. Upon inspecting the front tire when I got home there seemed to be the same issue as the rear, although not as severe. I weigh 240 pounds, with my work clothes in the panniers the total load on the tires is going to be close to 300 pounds. I am not timid on the road and like to go fast and corner hard. I may be outside of the design limits for these tires but thought that I should pass on this somewhat serious issue.

                  Service and delivery comments:

I purchased these tires at the College Park, MD store.
