I actually bought this pump months ago to use for my cars, but I saw REI sells it so I thought I would comment. This compressor is very compact and is very handy to pump up car and bike tires. It is fairly slow for cars and there is no dial; I think Slime sells a higher model w/ a PSI gauge. For bikes, the fill time is fairly quick. I bought a Presto to Shraeder adapter for $1 so that I can pump up Presto tires too with ease. I've used it several times now and it has held up just fine.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
