Comments about Continental Ultra Gatorskin Bike Tire - 26 x 1-1/8:

I live in AZ there are a lot of thorns in the road here and these tires are not able to handle them without getting punctured and going flat, worst tire ever, doesn't live up to their name should be called ultra thorn catchers instead.

Comments about Continental Ultra Gatorskin Bike Tire - 26 x 1-1/8:

Keep these puppies well inflated and you'll love'em. They are so strong and have never flatted on me with thousands of city and country miles, even carrying significant weight. I've even put them on my tandem.

The poor review posted earlier is not helpful - clearly the reviewer should have bought wider tires if he thinks these are too thin!! It's not the tire's fault...

Comments about Continental Ultra Gatorskin Bike Tire - 26 x 1-1/8:

I rode a pair of these from San Francisco to Seattle on mostly roads under a variety of weather conditions including downpours and ice. They never slipped out despite carrying over 310 lbs (bike + me + bags). I even took some sharp downhills at 42 mph with that load and felt confident about the Gatorskins. Imagine all the gravel, broken glass and car parts they've seen. (I got one flat, a pinch-flat after hitting an edge square on.) They are still on my bike today. Very durable.

You can't blame the tires because they are too thin if that's the size you buy. Duh!

Also, pay attention to the specs, these tires like a lot more pressure than others. With that comes a hardness that may be uncomfortable for some cyclists used to 60-80 psi tires, not to mention more pumping.

Comments about Continental Ultra Gatorskin Bike Tire - 26 x 1-1/8:

I cycle for everything, work, shop, exercise. Wanted a kevlar tire for less flat worry. Ended up having to worry about a lot more.

If you are putting these on you mountain bike for commuting keep these things in mind. All those cracks, holes, ridges, bumps, and ledges are now your enemy. You can't just blithely ride over them any more. These tires are too narrow. I found this out after almost wiping out in traffic a couple times. If the road gets wet, ESPECIALLY on asphalt, you will lose traction on turns. Best use I can think for them is endurance training for trail riding on the off season, on a road you know well.

I got rid of these tires and bought some Maxxis Overdrive kevlar tires 5 months ago and haven't been dissatisfied yet.
