Bought this along with a variety of other options as the daylight gets shorter. It has been a clear waste of money. It is a neat technology, but as for visibility it falls far short. The most dangerous times to ride are at dawn and dusk, low light conditions. These lights are barely visible from 100 feet in low light. They are more visible in full darkness, but even then are not very attention grabbing. We installed these on a Cougar 2. If the rainfly is stowed, it covers the units from the back, even further reducing their visibility. This seems like a major design flaw.
Our recommendation: Get two basic, rack mountable blinkies and bolt them through the grommets on the gargo bin where the reflector is supposed to go. Add a spoke light to each wheel. You'll be visible from a much greater distance in most light conditions. Plus, even with all that light you'll spend less money.

Can't find a way to update my previous review. Within a month after installing these we were forced to remove them entirely. After a few hours outside under the August sun the adhesive of the velcro on the battery case melted and the battery case dropped off under its own weight. We didn't expose it to extreme conditions, just went somewhere for the afternoon in August. Reapplying the velcro will require scraping off the now re-hardened remaining adhesive. Complete waste of money.

I've got these same lights in a jacket that I bought from REI a couple of years ago. They seem awfully expensive compartively and I don't think Chariots put too much thought into the integration.

In my jacket (cyclite) they perform amazingly and have save my bacon more than a few times. I first saw them reviewed in CitySport and OUTSIDE where they raved.
