Comments about Mountainsmith Kinetic Recycled Waistpack:
I purchased this little bag for trips to the zoo, the beach and other hot outdoor activities. I found initially that the thing has deceptively cavernous capacity and sports several well thought features, such as padded sunglass holder and cord hole for your favorite MP3 player's headphones. The water bottle holders are handy, although you must use two hands for replacing your bottle. Construction and materials are all top shelf, and waist adjustment is a snap.
While the Kinetic is overall a fine waist pack, I eventually found something that would prove to be a source of irritation. You see, taking the belt adjustment in or letting it out is a breeze, TOO MUCH of a breeze. Picking the pack up by the buckles causes the straps to elongate all the way back out under the weight of the pack. I was forced to be VERY careful when taking the pack off or putting it back on, especially when loaded. I also found that sweat dampened my clothing under the pack. In the Kinetic's defense, I am a intense sweater by nature and lose buckets in the heat. I would have also liked to see insulated water bottle sleeves instead of the open mesh

Comments about Mountainsmith Kinetic Recycled Waistpack:
I was looking for a waist pack for longer day hikes. Comfortably fits 750ml camelbak bottles or 20oz gatorade, which many packs did not. The main pocket can hold a good amount of gear and the softly-lined smaller pocket is perfect for my camera, I can cut space and weight by losing the camera case. I'm a small frame female and it was comfortable all day. I can easily turn it around for pocket access while on the move. I have not used the outer bungee yet- I would like to put a lightweight parka there, but I'm not sure if it'll stay put.

Comments about Mountainsmith Kinetic Recycled Waistpack:
I needed a waist pack for fitness walking around my neighboorhood good enough for carrying water, camera, snacks, phone, keys, etc. This holds two 20 oz. water bottles in snug mesh pockets. A review of the previous year's model said the pockets are so tight they crush the bottles, but this is not true. Very snug but no crushing. I suppose if you had flimsy plastic bottles, maybe, but today's aluminum BPA-free bottles work great. There are water-resistant flaps on zipper. I agree with Dr. Joe's review on the fact that the belt adjustment completely fails when picking it up and you have to adjust all over again while on your waist. Awkward a tad... But, once readjusted (needs to be each time used) then the comfort is great! I am happy with this purchase and got the exact same but previous year's version at half this price.

Comments about Mountainsmith Kinetic Recycled Waistpack:
The previously mentioned problem with the belt slipping from how you adjust it was a much more annoying problem than anticipated. If you are not prepared to do something to fix it, I woudl suggest not getting this pack. I was mulling over a variety of solutions and decided to remove the buckle from my previous (broken) fanny pack and use that. It was narrower than the one that came with this pack and the webbing had to squish a little when threaded through. That was enough to keep it from slipping.

Comments about Mountainsmith Kinetic Recycled Waistpack:
Great pack. I've had a Moutainsmith Day (Lumbar) pack I bought back in 1994 and it's still trucking today. I bought the kinetic for fly-fishing and have been very pleased. The volume is small enough that it snugs next to your back well without additional straps located on the pack, the benefit of which is you don't have a bunch of extra stuff hanging down that could tangle your line. Water bottle holders are pefect- snug enough that you won't eject a bottle but still workable with one hand (although a bit tough.) Also a good size for the dog park- large enough for keys / wallet / leash / treats / water for you.... all you need and nothing more. Two thumbs up!

Comments about Mountainsmith Kinetic Recycled Waistpack:
This waistpack is well-made, generally. It has deceptively large loading pockets to its credit. However, the water bottle pockets are too shallow and the 16 oz bottles fall out. They should also be insulated. The waist strap gets loose w/wear. This pack could use a small "optional" put on/take off balanced should strap for carrying off trail and for easy accessibility. I like its potential to be excellent better than its actual performance in the field and off.

Comments about Mountainsmith Kinetic Recycled Waistpack:
This is the perfect size pack for long day hikes. The water bottle pouches will hold my 1 liter bottles; but they need small bungees to make sure they don't fall out.
Got a little belly? With the amount of water I carry, I need suspenders to hold the pack up where I want it.
The waist and other adjustments do need readjusting when you take the pack off. Easy enough.
Room enough in the main pocket for a light jacket, a little food, and first-aid and emergency supplies in addition to extra water.

Comments about Mountainsmith Kinetic Recycled Waistpack:
I bought the pack to go to a concert. There was a chance of rain and I was able to put my rain coat, camera, and binoculars in the larger compartment. It held a 1/2 liter water bottle fine. Used the bungee to hold a small umbrella and it stayed in place with no problems. The buckle is a problem as previous reviews have stated but it's easy to adust.I also think if you play around with the elastic straps for the extra belt webbing you might be able to stop the buckle from moving. I'm also thinking of trying the waistpack for cross country skiing and short day hikes. The construction is good and well designed. Would not hesitate to buy it again.
