Comments about Thule Caravan Roof Bag:
I wanted a car-top carrier in which I could use and easily store. The first time we used this, I found it very difficult to strap to the existing roof rails of my SUV. The straps would come loose during driving and annoyingly rattle on the roof top. Other times, the bag would slide to one side of the roof-top. I ended up securing with velcro fastners.
The carrier does not unzip all the way, so it becomes difficult to store gear.
After about 4 uses, the white rubber lining near the zippers started to crumble and leave white flakes all over my gear. I am very meticulous about my gear. I always take it down and keep it nicely stored while at camp. I think I am going to trade it in for the Passage 2 Tent that I covet.

Comments about Thule Caravan Roof Bag:
bag seems durable enough, my own fault for not checking on waterproof,
but weather resistant is a real stretch, half hour of driving in the rain and
everything inside is damp

Comments about Thule Caravan Roof Bag:
I used this for every road trip and it worked great. I had used this through rain and snow. The only complint is once it is loaded it is very heavy and not easy to around.

Comments about Thule Caravan Roof Bag:
I bought mine at the B96 (returned goods) attic sale, so that might have something to do with the troubles. But we had an old Kangaroo Pouch that we loved but had started to have smallish leaking problems, so I picked this one up. Didn't realize how much smaller this was. Turns out, the front straps also don't open fully to allow you to cram more stuff up front (nor does the front strap cross over the entire bag, though they make it look like it does--would've been cheaper, it seems, just to have made the strap go all the way). It leaked on our first trip with it, and every subsequent one (it's the only bag we have right now, so we have to use it). Another reviewer said he/she had problems with the bag slapping and making noise on the roof--we had the exact same problem during our holiday trip, and that's why I'm looking at carriers now!

Comments about Thule Caravan Roof Bag:
We purchased this roof bag about two years ago and its been fantastic. We go car camping about 10x/year plus occasional cross-country road-trips and we've used this bag in blistering New Mexico summer heat, and chilly 14F Indiana winters. I tug and yank and pull on it pretty hard and we've only had one small pinhole leak on the bottom and that was in a torrential downpour at highway speeds.... It does take some time to install so the straps don't flap in the wind, and it can vibrate at high speeds if its not full to the gills. In all, we've used it alot and its been great!

Comments about Thule Caravan Roof Bag:
Purchased for trip to Yosemite and was excited about the capacity of the cargo carrier. During the drive up however, the straps often shifted and came loose and made loud flapping sounds which caused me to pull over a couple of times to retie. The bag also did not allow for adjusting to the roof rack on my minivan which resulted in the carrier moving to one side of the other during the trip. I returned it when I came back from Yosemite.

Comments about Thule Caravan Roof Bag:
We purchased this for a cross country road trip and after installing and packing we headed out for our destination. After the first re-fueling we started to see tears in the outside construction, which were fixed with duct tape (of course!) When we arrived at the destination, I removed the carrier from the top of the SUV and noticed that most of the internal taping had disintegrated and several large holes had opened in the back of the bag. I was able to repair with duct tape again, just enough for the return trip. The very next trip I made was to return to the store for a refund.
