The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Thule Hull-A-Port:
I was tired of putting foam blocks on and off my factory bars so I looked for this specific rack system. I wanted a J-cradle rack so I could mount a cargo box on my truck next to the kayak for paddles and other gear. I didn't want flip downs because I wasn't sure of their durability and stability. Plus these cost less and I found them on sale. I only recommended these for a car because I cannot pull into the garage now but I usually don't get a garage spot anyways.
I used them on a several hundred mile trip across the state and had no issues with them at all. The thumb fasteners stayed tight as well as the boat to the racks. I used a large recreational tandem and it still fit fine and held solid. I drove 65 miles an hour and didn't even notice it was up there besides the strap in my field of view. No wind noise, no pulling and surprisingly very little difference in gas mileage! I only dropped about one mile to the gallon at 20.5 mpg with everything loaded up.
When I use these to move the kayak across town I don't even bother with the front and back straps because the boat is very solid with only the rack straps. I think that voids the warranty but I don't go over 35 mph so I'm not worried about them breaking.
They appear to be well constructed and should last a long time. I am happy with them.

Comments about Thule Hull-A-Port:
This racks just works! Easy to attach, strong and easy to load. We use all Thule rack components to haul my wife's kayak and my canoe. (Note the Thule track mounted to the roof of the Mazda Tribute SUV) No more stress from worrying about them falling off!

Comments about Thule Hull-A-Port:
We have a Toyota Matrix, which is medium-height; getting the kayak up on top of the rack was way too difficult for my wife to handle by herself. With the kayak on top, it catches a lot of side wind, and while the J-rack seems sturdy enough, it does move a little.
We returned it, and bought a Glide and Set instead, and it's a lot easier to deal with and feels more stable.
The straps that came with it weren't long enough to fit over my tandem ocean kayak. Couldn't figure out any place on the Matrix to attach the bow and stern security lines.
