Comments about Polarmax Better Boxers - Men's - Special Buy:
I bought a pair a while back, despite some less than stellar reviews here. After several camping rips and other active use, I am ordering several more.
I like the fit, and personally, the narrow waistband feels more comfortable than the bulkier wide ones found on most other men's boxers undergarments.

Comments about Polarmax Better Boxers - Men's - Special Buy:
While I agree the waistband isn't a luxurious silky band of clouds, it is by no means uncomfortable. Of course, I'm in shape and have greek god abs. If you are fat and sit in front of TV all day, they may be a little tight, and thus chaff.

Comments about Polarmax Better Boxers - Men's - Special Buy:
These are made out of a nice material and breathe and wick well enough. But I have a few serious issues with them that make me question if wearing them is worth it.
The first is pretty trivial, but a question I have none-the-less. What is up with outdoor companies and the ridiculously ugly patterns on men's boxers?! These things are hideous! No matter though, as they are under your other clothes. But why not just a plain color? Why use an ugly design?
Two, as others have mentioned, the waist band is abbrasive. It's like the top piece of thread is too tight compared to the rest of the waist band, and it always leaves a red mark after wearing them. It is uncomfortable and a little painful after awhile.
Three, I'm surprised no one else mentioned this problem. The opening for "easy access" is too low and too flimsy! I'm constantly "hanging out" of these boxers. It's stupid! I'm considering just sewing the whole thing shut. The opening should be about 3 inches higher (there is room as the opening doesn't start until about 3 inches below the waist band for some reason). No boxer I've ever owned has had the opening in the same place as this. It makes it uncomfortable and a little embarassing, to be honest.
I can put up with the waist band and the pattern, but the third problem is a deal breaker most of the time. If I wear these (I bought four pair), I usually twist them one way or the other so that the opening isn't dead center.
If you get these, don't take off your pants around others without checking what's exposed first!

I am not sure what these people are whining about on the fit. I bought four of these and took them on a trip to Tanzania, that included a safari. No problem sitting for hours upon hours in these, let alone any type of physical activity. I was totally comfortable and they breath properly. On the way home, I was marooned in Nariobi for two nights. I wore a pair of these for 62 hours straight (not by choice) because I did not have access to my luggage. I was comfortable the whole time and thankful I was wearing these and not something else. I am of average size/weight and not overweight or over muscular - just physically fit. Maybe these other people have the wrong size, or something.... Complain away, that means more for me. I'm buying more of them and replacing all other boxers I have. These things are great!

Bought these to upgrade to a nice wicking boxer underwear. Material is nice but the waistband had a rough edge and the seams on the backside went right on your sit bones. Not so good and they were a rough seam as well. [...] Not recommended due to bad design.

Comments about Polarmax Better Boxers - Men's - Special Buy:
Contrary to some complaints, I don't find the seams or waistband to be an issue although I really want a 31 inch product but have to choose between 28-30 or 32-34. So I go smaller/tighter or larger/looser with extra, mostly uncomfortable fabric.
Here I chose to go smaller and not have the excess baggage. I find the "fly issue" to be a minor but frequent event; and chalk it up to being on the snug side of a perfect fit. But I wear these more than some of my other larger & baggier boxers because the leaner fit is more comfortable overall.

The base material is very comfortable - soft and light, however, the waistband is too abrasive with an edge at the top. The designer should take notes from Simms and Patagonia.

Sorry, but I can't agree at all with the previous reviewer. I bought 3 pair of these off REI-Outlet 2 or 3 years ago strictly for hiking and backpacking and they still look new. I've not experienced any chafing or other problems at all (like I did with briefs). I own the 3 pair of these and a few pair of Patagonia boxers and I'm happy wearing either.

I own four of these and am considering more. They are delightfully comfortable and I have never noticed any problems in about 3 years. My brother dayhiked in a pair without any shorts or pants in cloud forests of Costa Rica and reported it was the most comfortable experience. Made in the USA!
