    The REI Member Dividend

          Comments about Platypus Bite Valve Cover:

          This bite valve cover is great for desert hiking because it not only keeps the dirt and sand out, it keeps cactus thorns out as well. Quite a few times I've taken my pack off to scurry under a fence or natural barrier, and when I put my pack back on I've discovered that I got cactus thorns in my bite valve. The little hairy thorns imbed in the soft rubber of the bite valve and they're almost impossible to get out. Not pleasant! Especially when it's hot and you're ten miles away from the car. After a few times of that, I got the bite valve cover and everything stays clean--you just have to remember to cover the valve before you shrug your pack off. The cover is a bit cumbersome but it's well worth the trouble.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

            I am guilty of being that person who ALWAYS takes off her pack during breaks in hiking. I know you're thinking, "What's wrong with that?"

            tWithout fail, I am ALWAYS frowny-faced when my pack is back on my back & my bite valve is covered in dirt.

            My friends were getting sick of cleaning the dirt off so they told me to get a bite valve cover. I did & I love it! It's made from a sturdy material & best of all, it keeps my bite valve clean!

              Great item! Better then my rigged 20oz bottle cap over my platypus hose mouthpiece.Keeps dirt out of my mouthpiece, and out of my mouth, what more could you want..
