The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 fl. oz.:
I take two extra hosers without the hose (with just a cap) along backpacking to use for extra water when I know we won't be near a water source. When empty they fold into a very small space.

My only complaint is that sometimes the mouthpiece can get dirty. I wish it came with an included cap, instead of making it a separate purchase.

Bought this specifically to try to get rid of that plastic taste you get with most hydration bladders - this one is AMAZING! Almost no taste at all :)

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 fl. oz.:
Nice bladder that was lighter than others I had looked at. Slightly worried the plastic like material might be punctured easier than the traditional rubber like material used but the weight difference is worth taking that risk.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 fl. oz.:
I'm a minimalist and like shaving ounces, so this works for me. For the saving in weight, I'm willing to put up with what I view as minor inconveniences. In fact, I just ordered a new one, identical to the one as I've been using for about 7 years as the oldie is showing its age - fine cracks are developing, so I figure it's not long before failure. But no complaints; I've really given this thing a workout - it's been with me on all of my hiking, backpacking, and hunting trips. Definitely recommend to minimalists like myself.
For cleaning and sanitizing, add 1/2 Tbsp of household bleach to bladder, fill with cold water, and let it sit overnight. This solution will dissolve most of the crud that may have develop over time. Same for the hose, but after disassembling you'll have to fill a 2 liter container with the same solution, then "sink" the hose and mouthpiece components in the solution and let sit overnight (do NOT put the metal clip in the solution!) Rinse all thoroughly with hot water before use.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 fl. oz.:
I have been using this product for about 6 years. Works all the time. Never has failed. First and foremost, this is an ULTRA LIGHTWEIGHT hydration reservoir. It is designed to keep the weight down and it keeps the price down too. I originally bought mine to keep cost down. Anything extra adds weight. Ounces adds up however this is not much of a concern for me. Yes it does form a cylinder when full. Any plyable sheeting material without internal structure will do that when full. If you want it to lay in a more flatten state just don't fill it completely full. For the difficulty of filling it, since the idea was to keep it ultra lightweight the manufacturer designed it with a small cap. I solved the problem by buying the optional quick disconnect from Cascade Designs. [...] I simple disconnect the quick disconnect and then connect the bladder connection to the quick disconnect of my Katadyn Hiker Pro and start pumping water. Concerning the cleaning, add a drop or two of soap and a little water and shake. Attach the drink tube and squeeze the mouth piece and let the soap and water flow out. Add fresh rinse water and repeat the process. I usually rinse mine twice as the first rinse doesn't usually remove all the soap.Once the rinse is completed, inflate with air stand it with the openig up. You will need to rest it against something. I put it on the window seal for a few days. The sun helps to dry it. Warm moist air rises so it is important to keep it upright. A friend uses a hair dryer on medium heat to blow drying air in. He says to just catch the side of the air stream with the opening as you was the moist air to be pushed out. I do no know if the heat will affect the longevity of the plastic or not as he only had his a few years.I hope this helps, If you want something lightweight and don't need all the bells and whistles or want to keep cost down then this is the product for you.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 fl. oz.:
I purchased this item as a lighter weight alternative to my old Camelbak bladder for a hike on the PCT in SoCal last summer. Didn't use the hose, rather I purchased the accessory closure cap and used it for carrying water. The product is very lightweight and priced appropriatetly. It functioned well on the trail; however, it expands to a cylinder when full (like other bladders) which I find awkward while in my pack's hydration sleeve. Consequently I'm more attracted now to the new flatter, baffled design from Camelbak.
I found it awkward to clean due to the small opening, and it's also difficult to get completely dry in preparation for storage over the winter. I discovered it had developed a slow leak (pinhole) the very next time I used it this spring. So I'm somewhat disappointed in the durability, as I used a Camelbak through the entire AT in 2004 and it's still going strong.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 fl. oz.:
I bought this for my dad because it is cheap, tasteless, and easy to use. It's a great bladder once its filled. Unlike the Camelbak Omega Reservoir, (http://www.rei.com/product/733683) it is hard to fill. The opening to fill it is about the size of a normal water bottles opening. If you want ice you should buy one of those special ice trays but besides that its a great product.

Partially fill it and pop in the freezer. Cold water all morning. Platypus sell a replacement top. Put this on your water filter hose. Then screw onto the Platypus and hang the bag from your belt. No more spilling and both hands can be on your pump. If you fold these often you will develop a line in the bag and eventually it will crack.
