The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 oz.:
This is a solid product for its price and performs to my expectations. A couple of comments:
- Very minimalist, so it's quite easy to slide in and out of my backpack reservoir compartment. I've noticed that with other reservoirs with more features, inserting/removing can be a bit more of a hassle.
- I wouldn't say that the water taste is completely neutral coming out of the tube, but it certainly doesn't taste bad, just a tad bit "rubbery." It's hard to describe in words.
- The mouth is very small, and makes refilling a bit cumbersome. There certainly are feature drawbacks when trying to cut down weight and price, and this seems to be one of them. Also, since there is only one mouth which serves as the refill port and the outlet port, you have to disassemble to refill. Again, I wouldn't necessarily call this a drawback considering price and desired minimalism, but just something to keep in mind.
- Cleaning and drying require some creative work/methods.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 oz.:
Lightweight and works extremely well, but the mouth is very, very small. Makes it a little harder to clean, and fill. If you are using it for biking in hot weather, be warned, the mouth is too small to insert ice cubes, (a good idea on hot days)

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 oz.:
It's worth a try compared to some of the other reservoirs. It's definitely one of the cheaper products.
I've taken this backpacking, hiking, and car camping. I like it. It's 2 L which is a good size with clear plastic so you can see how much you have or whatever you want to mix it with. It's definitely light which is a plus!
The opening is the same size as a disposable water bottle. I haven't had any trouble with that. I've never had anything except plain water in mine so shaking it up with some soap and water to clean is fine. Then I leave it hanging over my sink to dry for a day or two which is slow unfortunately. I have had no problems filling it up. I filter my water in a Nalegene and then transfer it over. The opening is smaller but it won't kill me to pour a little longer and slower to make sure I get my water all in.
The bite valve is a bit different. My boyfriend has a Camelback and his you can just squeeze the mouthpiece and water comes right out. My platypus you have to bite gently not chewing it up and suck the water out. So this could be good or bad depending on your preference.
I've had no problems with leaking and I've had mine for a little over a year now. All in all, I like it. I will continue to use Platypus products because of the good price and good performance.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 oz.:
I thought this thing was lacking, for several reasons. The valve seemed to never leak, except once, where my heavy pack was pinching the end, and it made a large puddle, which the dog made quick work of.
But, when I went to clean some dirt off the mouthpiece with my fingers, the bite valve actually pulled right off with not much force.
The refill hole, is a joke. And drying, takes forever, even hanging vertical under a ceiling duct. Taste was a little "off", but whatever.

I have used this product for over a year now. I have never had a problem with it. I hike The AT and throw this on the inside top of my pack. That makes it easier to get to to refill. Never had a leak.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 oz.:
I have been using this product for about 6 years. Works all the time. Never has failed. First and foremost, this is an ULTRA LIGHTWEIGHT hydration reservoir. It is designed to keep the weight down and it keeps the price down too. I originally bought mine to keep cost down. Anything extra adds weight. Ounces adds up however this is not much of a concern for me. Yes it does form a cylinder when full. Any plyable sheeting material without internal structure will do that when full. If you want it to lay in a more flatten state just don't fill it completely full. For the difficulty of filling it, since the idea was to keep it ultra lightweight the manufacturer designed it with a small cap. I solved the problem by buying the optional quick disconnect from Cascade Designs. [...] I simple disconnect the quick disconnect and then connect the bladder connection to the quick disconnect of my Katadyn Hiker Pro and start pumping water. Concerning the cleaning, add a drop or two of soap and a little water and shake. Attach the drink tube and squeeze the mouth piece and let the soap and water flow out. Add fresh rinse water and repeat the process. I usually rinse mine twice as the first rinse doesn't usually remove all the soap.Once the rinse is completed, inflate with air stand it with the openig up. You will need to rest it against something. I put it on the window seal for a few days. The sun helps to dry it. Warm moist air rises so it is important to keep it upright. A friend uses a hair dryer on medium heat to blow drying air in. He says to just catch the side of the air stream with the opening as you was the moist air to be pushed out. I do no know if the heat will affect the longevity of the plastic or not as he only had his a few years.I hope this helps, If you want something lightweight and don't need all the bells and whistles or want to keep cost down then this is the product for you.

Partially fill it and pop in the freezer. Cold water all morning. Platypus sell a replacement top. Put this on your water filter hose. Then screw onto the Platypus and hang the bag from your belt. No more spilling and both hands can be on your pump. If you fold these often you will develop a line in the bag and eventually it will crack.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 oz.:
I purchased this item as a lighter weight alternative to my old Camelbak bladder for a hike on the PCT in SoCal last summer. Didn't use the hose, rather I purchased the accessory closure cap and used it for carrying water. The product is very lightweight and priced appropriatetly. It functioned well on the trail; however, it expands to a cylinder when full (like other bladders) which I find awkward while in my pack's hydration sleeve. Consequently I'm more attracted now to the new flatter, baffled design from Camelbak.
I found it awkward to clean due to the small opening, and it's also difficult to get completely dry in preparation for storage over the winter. I discovered it had developed a slow leak (pinhole) the very next time I used it this spring. So I'm somewhat disappointed in the durability, as I used a Camelbak through the entire AT in 2004 and it's still going strong.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 oz.:
I bought this for my dad because it is cheap, tasteless, and easy to use. It's a great bladder once its filled. Unlike the Camelbak Omega Reservoir, (http://www.rei.com/product/733683) it is hard to fill. The opening to fill it is about the size of a normal water bottles opening. If you want ice you should buy one of those special ice trays but besides that its a great product.

Comments about Platypus Hoser 2.0L Reservoir - 70 oz.:
Pros: Good product, no leaks, doesn't hold flavors or scents, lower cost than many other similar products, light weight.
Cons: Not really a product flaw, but I like the Camelback bite valves better. Also, since this bladder only has a single small opening, it's a little bit harder to dry out after use. Perhaps the zipper-top ones are easier to clean and may be worth the extra few dollars.
I'd still recommend this product, it works as advertised.
