Comments about Crazy Creek HexaLite Original Chair:

I bought this chair to replace the Thermarest unit which required me to to pull my air mattress out of the tent each day. I was excited to see how it performed and took it out this past fathers day into the back country of Lake Tahoe. The chair was great the first day and I thought I had bought the perfect replacement, but on day two the pole poked through the stitching on the back. My Grandson had the same chair and his poked through on day 1. Great concept, but Crazy Creek needs to work on the poles to ensure they are stable and don't break through the stitching. I returned to REI with disappointment.

Comments about Crazy Creek HexaLite Original Chair:

We live in Florida where there are no REI stores so everything has to be shipped. My husband was so excited to get this chair using dividends. He set it up in our family room sat in it (he's not a big man)and "snap!" the stability pole shot out of its stitching. I maneuvered the pole back into place, we brought it camping and out it went again. This is troublesome as it seems the Crazy Creek stitching problem is a common theme in other reviews.

Comments about Crazy Creek HexaLite Original Chair:

As mentioned in the previous post, on the first outing, one of the stays pushed thru the webbing. After pushing the stay back in, I was able to get some use of it. Unfortunately the stay pushed thr again while sitting on a not so flat rock, this time though, when it pushed thru, leverage was created on the stay, fracturing it. The stay resembled a flat straw. Now the darn thing makes a good but pad. Rather unfortunate. Good idea, just a bit fragile for the outdoors. I'm on the fence about recommending the thing. I'm going to replace it but my gut/but tells me it will break again

Comments about Crazy Creek HexaLite Original Chair:

I've used mine for about 8-10 days in the mountains and on the west coast of vancouver island where it saw both rocky and sandy beaches. so far the stays have not blown out. This chair is the third I've owned: one crazy creek original, lasted about 7-8 years before the stay blew out through the top- returned to REI; one 'pacific outdoors' (I think) stay blow out in less than one week on a kayak trip, returned to REI, now i'm on my hexlite which i bough because it's light and rolls up easily. After using it I was surprised to see it was the same size as my original CC chair as it feels a bit narrow in use.

For thoise worried about the stays blowing out:
This last trip my two buddies each had different REI brand chairs and one had a near catastrophic failure of strap stitching and the other had major failure of the nylon material at stress points. Both chairs made it through the week but it seems like all manufacturers have problems. For my money I'll stick with Crazy Creek brand, so far they've been superior to off brands for me.

Also always buy from REI so you can get replacements when they fail!!!!

Comments about Crazy Creek HexaLite Original Chair:

I loved this chair. It was great in the winter due to no air flow under you. I would fold it flat for addition padding under my bag. Alas, within a year the pole broke through the fabric support. Just a small amount of extra fabric support would make this a winner.

Comments about Crazy Creek HexaLite Original Chair:

I was excited about this chair because it is so light, and it is... but two of the poles broke through the stitching. I'm debating whether or not to exchange for the same one and reinforce the corners because it was great until it broke, but be prepared.

      Didn't survive wilderness canoe trip

Comments about Crazy Creek HexaLite Original Chair:

Took this chair on a nine day wilderness canoe trip for use in camp. Found it uncomfortable. The seat sort of collapsed like a parachute hammock around my hips, and the rods used for stays pressed uncomfortably against my hips and thighs. I often use this type of chair to create back support sitting on a raised rock or log. This created too much stress on the stays and they got crushed near the hinge of the chair, so that the chair became unstable. I'm not sure what kind of body type would find the chair comfortable, but I'm six foot and thin, and I'm going back to the extra weight (and comfort) of the traditional Crazy Creek chair.

Comments about Crazy Creek HexaLite Original Chair:

So I bought this chair for backpacking and canoeing. I took it on a two night backpacking trip, and it worked fine. I wasn't super thrilled with it, but was pleased with the extra comfort it provided and how nice it rolled up and its minimal weight.
But then last night I took my new canoe out for the first time, and the bar on the bottom snapped, so now there is no support, and it does not function as a chair.
I am going to return it and exchange it for the original chair, perhaps that would be more sturdy.

Comments about Crazy Creek HexaLite Original Chair:

I purchased this chair prior to a wilderness hike (14 Miles) and my friend was making fun of me for carrying the extra weight (less than a pound) for the chair until he sits in it and says WOW this thing is really comfortable. All I can say is this has made every hike I have made for the last month or more and I will stop and take a break. I have back problems and this really helps being able to sit and be able to lean back and relax. you know you want it so stop looking and just buy it.
