    I've had this for 6 months now and logged about 1,000 miles. Here are my observations.

    No wires or sensors on the bike. It's a very clean installation and the speed/distance computing is very accurate.

    Courses are fantastic! I'm using a web service called Bike Route Toaster to map out new rides and load them in the unit. You do need to buy the map card for best results, but it just can't be beat. I'm riding new rides I never would have thought of before, and I never have to look at a map on club rides. Being able to preplan exact distances is great for training, particularly if you have time constraints. Program an exact 15 mile loop that gets you back to your office before the lunch hour is over. I also like it on long rides that I can see where I am and how far to the next waypoint or finish.

    Training partner is cool but you can wear yourself out racing against your best time every day. I used it a while but not so much now. Every now and then it is good for a challenge on your favorite course.

    The Garmin software isn't as good a training tool as the Polar Precision Performance, but it does keep your ride history, mileage, speed etc. and give you a nice way to see all the courses you've loaded in the unit.

    I held off for a long time before I bought one of these, but am now very happy I did. I had a few glitches at first with lockups on the map page, but Garmin updates the firmware regularly and that was fixed. I would give this a "buy" recommendation if you are thinking about making the investment.

    Great GPS! The Garmin training software is also great for datalogging and monitoring progress.

    My only complaint is the price really.
