        Initially this hat was wonderful. I wore it to the beach, a four day festival and in the yard gardening...and then it rained. After getting wet, the hat dried and would not lose the dips along the edge. It made the edges on the side of my hat lay down next to my ears and offer no sun protection. It didn't shrink at all however. I would buy another one though and make sure to watch the weather before wearing it.

          I took this hat on a trip hiking in Yosemite and Zion and it packed well. I could fold it up and it bounced back. The wide brim and close weave offers superior sun protection. Around town, I get complements on its great look. I cannot give it five stars though because it has puckered a little at the top after many months of use. Inexpensive, buy several.

          I took this on a 4 week trip to South East Asia. It was adorable for the first 2 days. Protected well from the sun, good fit, comfortable, breathable.

          But I bought it because it was supposed to withstanding packing and retain its shape. It did not. It would have been one thing if the brim had started to collapse several weeks into the trip, but it collapsed within the first 3 days. Noticeably. The entire perimeter flopped - I couldn't even change to another angle, because every couple of inches flopped to the point of completely obstructing my vision.

          However, if you've been to SE Asia, you know how hot the summer can be. I was desperate, so even after the collapse, I tried to wear it on the 3rd day. Random strangers were commenting "Nice hat" (and not in a complimentary tone).

          I left it in Asia. If you're looking for a cute day-to-day hat, and have no intention of packing/folding/bending it, then I'd recommend it. However, if like me, you plan on packing it, I'd look for another hat.
