I really don't think this adds a ton of value to your pack. Learn how to tie some good knots and the need for this thing vanishes. Sure it works fine (I've used them) but it's one more thing to carry, when all you need is to tie an adjustable knot.

Works great when you want to string up a line. The Nite Ize Figure 9 Rope Tightener allows you to quickly set and adjust without having to tie a bunch of knots. The other advantage is, it allows you to tighten the line very easily. I even used it to tighten a volleyball net. Simple, but effective.

This is one of those items where you will wonder "How did I ever live without it?" - The directions are laser etched on the product. You can't screw it up. It works like a charm. It takes up no space in your kit. Every camper should have several. You can tie gear to your Jeep or hang it from a tree when you set up camp. You will never hash your ropes up again. Note: get a small size for smaller ropes. The large is only for 8mm rope on up.
