Comments about Oakley Straight Jacket Polarized Sunglasses:
After years and years of despising Oakley for their outrageous cost, I decided to give them a try with these Straight Jackets. I am so glad I did. From day one it was evident why they are on the pricey side; the lenses are fantastic.
I also feel they are durable enough to take up mountains this summer all around Colorado, as well as multiple backpacking trips. They were one of the few I had tried on that I felt were up to the task.

Comments about Oakley Straight Jacket Polarized Sunglasses:
First, please encourage your friends and family to wear eye protection and sunscreen. Two people in my family have long-term skin and eye damage from the sun.
Review:
I've used this for 18 months in all sorts of activities up and down the west coast of the USA.
Consider trying this if:
- You have a wide head and wide cheeks. I wear a size 7 7/8 hat. This wraps on my face just right.
- You want decent lightweight physical eye protection. Since it has a slight curved shape, it leaves less air gap for light, dust, and branches to enter. I wore this at elevation in the snow during the summer, in the sun, and I didn't need to add snow blinds to the sides.
Uuuuuuuh, you might also want to know:
- When in western WA state, rather humid, I could not wear these glasses for sports in forested areas or mixed weather. The snug fit didn't allow for a lot of air flow to clear the fogged lenses. In dry southern California, this is less of an issue.
- I wouldn't say that these lenses are easy to scratch. They are plastic and have gotten scuffed with normal use.
- My experience with product deterioration:
After a year of use, the black laminate on the Oakley 'O' at the temple of the sunglasses fell off. Also, after using it ~200 days, the left hinge was noticeably looser. I use my left hand to equip/unequip it so the repetition is showing.
Try it before you buy it.
