The Kelty Transit 2.1 child carrier doubles as a daypack with plenty of room for the little one and your gear.

  • Five-point harness system comfortably secures child in cockpit and adjusts easily with a central tensioning system similar to car seats
  • Curved, molded foam shoulder harness with load-lifter straps, sternum strap and contoured, padded hipbelt evenly distribute load
  • Main compartment has room for a layer of clothes, lunch and the rest of the 10 Essentials
  • Torso and seat height adjust to the size of the child
  • Carrier converts to a daypack by cinching the cockpit area closed
  • Aluminum frame evenly supports load and features an easy torso-adjustment slider to fir either parent; padded backpanel increases comfort
  • Zip-off diaper pack with shoulder straps brings along toys and essentials
  • Organizer pocket stores ID, money and other small accessories
  • Manufacturer recommends a maximum weight limit of 40 lbs. for child and gear

    Requirements for your child:
  • Your child must be capable of holding their head upright and sitting up by themselves. Usually a child older than 6 months is able to do this. It is a good idea to ask your pediatrician if they think your child is ready to ride in a child carrier.

      I had been looking for a child carrier. Did not have one with the first child. Now I can't go anywhere with out it. Very strong. I love that it is completely adjustable for both baby and parent. The torso adjustment, nicely padded back and waist belt and five point harness for baby was everything I could want and more. The detachable diaper bag (with its own shoulder straps)was an added plus. Hooray Kelty...this is THE child carrier for the on the go, stay at home dad.

        I love this backpack. We own a Kelty pack that is a bit bigger then this one with the feet that extend. But we are traveling this summer and wanted one more compact with the same support. This had that. The pockets are amazing and can hold so much ! I like the fact the backpack zips off so I can use that seperatly. It holds our 27 lb daughter wonderfully and she loves to ride in it. The shoulder straps are comfortable. If I had to change one thing I would change the size of the pocket on the waist band it can't hold a wallet it is not wide enough. So I have to seperate my cash and debit card and cell phone into that pocket so I can reach it. But really that is a small detail compared to the comfort and compactness of this product ! I think it is wonderful and looking forward to using it many times this summer !

        WE got this backpack as a babyshower gift and LOVE it!! It's difently for just day hikes and being out and about, but we couldnt imagine life without it now. We carry our little one through the airport in it, it's PERFECT and EASY!

        This a convienient pack that travels easily. It was wonderful until my son got a bit older (1.5) and then became very uncomfortable on longer hikes as the torso does not adjust to a large size. After about an hour or two it became almost painful.
