Comments about Komperdell Contour Foam Trekking Poles - Special Buy:
Used for a week on trails in Gaudalupe Natl Park. Lots of steep trails going up & or down. Worked great on both. After hiking all day you'll really appreciate their light weight.

Comments about Komperdell Contour Foam Trekking Poles - Special Buy:
These were my first set of poles and I'm glad I bought them before my 1 1/2 week 60 miler in NM. These were life savers when hiking with a heavy pack over rocks, along steep ridges, and through water crossings (especially the water crossings!). I even used them to hold a clothes line and they held up well. My only complaint is that there was some occasional slippage in the length of the pole, though you couldn't tighten them down too much or the locking mechanism would reset. This didn't happen too often though.
Great for stability, taking some of the weight off, and random McGyvering. Worth their weight (which isn't much) in gold.
