Like its cousin, Targhee, the midheight Keen Voyageur hiking boot offers the same 4-wheel-drive traction and stability minus the waterproof barrier.

  • Leather uppers with polyester mesh ventilation windows offer durability, flexibility and breathability for comfort on the go
  • Polyester linings wick moisture away from your feet and dry quickly to keep feet comfortable and dry
  • Secure-fit lace capture system, with sturdy leather eyelets and heel wrap, helps lock feet to footbeds for increased support
  • Webbing pull loops at heels and tongues allow easy entry/exit; padded, gusseted tongues keep out debris and moisture while relieving lace pressure
  • Patented rubber toe bumpers protect feet and uppers from bumps and abrasion
  • Removable Metatomical EVA footbeds are custom shaped to provide ample cushioning and arch support; can also accommodate orthotics
  • Compression-molded EVA midsoles offer shock-absorption and padding for all-day comfort
  • Supportive ESS plastic shanks provide torsional stability and protection from uneven and rocky terrain
  • S3 (shock, suspension, stability) heel support structure supports the feet on impact, dissipates shock and reduces the chance of twisting an ankle
  • Nonmarking carbon rubber outsoles with aggressive 4mm multidirectional lugs for long-wearing durability and superb terrain bite

Comments about Keen Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:

Wide toe box is nice. Shoe accentuates pronation. Wide, low cut entry invites sand and gravel. Short tongue and really short puny shoelace. No ankle support. Sole wears quickly but that's the price you pay for sticky rubber and the stickier the better as far as I'm concerned. Good general scrambling shoe but not enough torsional rigidity or support for moderately heavy pack or off trail use.

Comments about Keen Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:

I have "problem feet", and discovered Keens a couple of years ago. My feet are very wide, especially at the toes, and they are also quite short (just to make matters worse)! The toe-box on Keens were designed with my feet in mind, and I have never been disappointed with any of their offerings.

Last month, as I was getting geared up for an assault on Big Bend, I chanced onto these boots, and it was love-at-first-fit. I bought them on a Saturday, and hiked Big Bend the following week (no break-in time), and while my partner applied Mole-Skin daily, even though she'd hiked hundreds of miles in her boots, I never felt a THING but comfortable and confident in these boots. I HIGHLY recommend these boots, and have now gone back and bought the waterproof version for an upcoming event. THANKS, KEENS!!!

Comments about Keen Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:

After breaking these in on a quick and flat 7 mile hike in the Marin Headlands, I was a bit skeptical about taking them on 25 mile High Sierra backpacking trip in Yosemite. These boots turned out to be the best boots I have hiked in. The first day of our hike included a strenuous off-trail 6 mile stretch zig-zagging uphill some steep granite. I had completely forgotten that I was wearing brand new hiking boots. For the first time ever I came home with no blisters on my heels. For me, these boots are the perfect combination between flexibility, support, quick break-in time, and comfort.

Comments about Keen Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:

I have a narrow foot with a med/high arch and am very picky with my footwear. I was skeptical, reading other people's reviews, speaking of wide, flat feet. The style kept driving me back. I went to the store to try the shoes on, and to my surprise these shoes had a medium high arch, a stable footbed (considing how light of shoe they are), and though the toe box is very roomy, the lacing and fit allowed me to cinch the shoe snug, comfortably. I took the shoes and wore them and have got to admit that they will take a bit of time to break in the uppers. I'm having to adjust the laces as I go. The shoes have decent traction, and cradle the foot on moderate slopes while being stiff enough not to flex like a moccasin. These shoes are very light for the support they offer. The length is true to every size 10 I've tried.

Initially, I liked the Keen style, but took a little time to consider as a purchase. I've got another pair of mid weight waterproof hiking boot Asolo TPS 520 GTX that I am happy with and wear in the field and on the job. I looked for a while before I found what I liked. Thus far I am satisfied with these Keens and look foward to them breaking in.

Comments about Keen Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:

This shoe is great. I use the boot on all of my backpacking trips that don't require the Targhee II's that I also have.

I tried to break these in a few weekends before a major trip on Mt. Kennesaw in Georgia, then realized they don't require a break-in period. :)

Took these on a 23 mile trek over 4th of July in the Smokys. There were TONS of creek crossings and they did take a little water on when I accidentally dipped my misplaced foot in the water, but they don't claim to be waterproof. Luckily they are very ventilated and dried out really fast.

I put some memory foam Dr. Shoals inserts into them and they are like walking on a cloud. This isn't necessary, but it definitely made the 23 mile'r a lot more fun. I got some hot spots though towards the end of the trip on the left side of my right big toe, on the left side of my right arch, and a little bit on my achilles when my sock wasn't hiked up.

They also were great on a late-fall trip to the Smokys for an 8 mile bout. My feet were warm even when the temperatures dipped into the mid 20s.

Overall these are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn... and surprisingly they are boots! They have held up against some abuse and the soles look good to go. I'd buy them again for sure.

Comments about Keen Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:

This is my 4th pair of Keens. The other 3 pairs are lowcut models. Like my other 3 pairs, the footbed is delightfully comfortable. The uppers on these shoes are rather stiff and uncomfortable after 30 miles of hiking. Hopefully the comfort level will improve. My biggest complaint with Keens is the soft rubber on the soles. They wear out very quickly. The tongue could be longer for greater comfort. I use these boots mostly for hiking on rocky desert trails with frequent moderate elevation changes of several hundred feet. Overall, I am pleased with these boots.

Comments about Keen Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:

Just finished a Whitney one dayer in these. 23 miles and I didn't start to think about my feet until about mile 20 or so. I have had a tough time with boots so you can say that I'm a little hypersensitive. We all know that a bad boot = bad outing. I did do a total of 25 miles in these before Whitney so I felt pretty confident but to do that in one day, you never know how your feet are gonna react. I have a wide foot and my left is half a size larger than my right. I decided to go with half a size larger than I would in a normal tennis shoe. I also used mountaineering socks. I was concerned about the heat (my feet tend to run hot) but that was never an issue. The boots breath very well. On the way down I never once felt my toes. And the sole is tough enough to handle a lot of sharper rocks that you might not be able to avoid. All I can say is you have got to try these boots.

Comments about Keen Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:

I would only recommend these boots to someone who has clapped their old boots together over my head at 3am.

After wearing out my previous boots on the AT, I followed "another retailers" salesman's recommendation that these boots were just as good as my previous boots with the added benefit of a wider toe-box. What I found was the following:
 Any stone or rock stepped upon will be felt directly by the foot. The footbed is simply insufficient to protect the bottoms of your feet from feeling every pebble.
 The tongue of the boot is too short and along with the design of the collar and uppermost hooks for lacing it was very difficult to keep the detritus of the trail from getting down deep in your boots without gaiters.
 After a single day of hiking in drizzly conditions, the glue holding the soles started to give way.
These boots were returned to the store where they were purchased after six days of use in a dilapidated state.

I used these, for the first time, last Sat (10/11) for a dayhike to Heather Lake in Sequoia NP. 8 mile round trip with all typs of terrain. Very comfortable and easy to lace. I also have a pair of Asolo Discovery boots that are more rugged, and have better soles, but if you don't lace them correct you get blisters. Not with the Keens. I only wish the sole was a little more stiff to protect against sharp rocks. Oh, it was also about 15 degrees and starting to snow and they stayed warm.
