Comments about REI Ti Ware Mug - 0.4 Liter:

This is a nice little cup as long as you do not drink anything hot. The Ti transfers heat throughout the cup and you can burn your lips when you take a sip. Also you loose heat fast as well so make sure you drink your hot beverage quickly. I would recommend just buying the double wall Ti cup and you will have the best of both worlds.

Comments about REI Ti Ware Mug - 0.4 Liter:

This is my first titanium anything, I'm used to lugging around steel or aluminum (or ceramic). I'm amazed about how lightweight it is- I still swear it falls to earth slower than I can throw it up- and it is really durable. And yes- it does lose heat faster than a ceramic mug would, although I can't say I notice much as I hork down my coffee way too fast. And thanks to the handy dandy rubberized handles that fold in for storage, you don't feel any of the heat from your beverage. Currently I am using this mug everyday at home, its such a better mug than anything else I own (not to mention all my friends like to pick it up and are also amazed at how light it is).
Lastly- you can't beat the REI gear price, much less than the what else you can find out there..

Comments about REI Ti Ware Mug - 0.4 Liter:

I use this mug as my only cookware when on the trail, and it has proven to be incredibly durable and efficient. I've used the mug on a number of multiday treks, and despite a bit of discoloration (expected, since I'm using it directly over heat), and a few melted spots on the handles, the mug is still as good as new. In conjunction with a homemade stove, foil windscreen and lid, I can boil enough water for a freezer bag of couscous in just a few minutes, so heat transfer is excellent. The size is perfect for the solo hiker, at 400mL, and weighs nearly nothing.

I have burned my lips a few times while using the mug to drink coffee or tea in the morning, but that could happen with any titanium mug. I've seen people using little silicone lip-guards, but I think being careful and not immediately trying to drink boiling water out of a metal cup could prevent most burns.

Comments about REI Ti Ware Mug - 0.4 Liter:

It's been my favorite little mug since I got it. It barley weights a thing and does a great job as a mug. It's most amazing feature is it's inability to retain flavor. I can drink coffee out of it then rinse with water, brew some tea in it then rinse with water, then drink some water out of it and not taste any of the coffee or tea. The only potential flaw in this amazing little cup is that titanium while light in weight is a rather decent conductor. The cup heats up quickly (and cools down quickly) making the rubberized little handles a must to save your fingers but your lips are on their own, and the beverage will not stay hot for real long. Good for a morning cup of coffee if you don't sit with it for 45 minutes.
Everyone who has seen mine has wanted one, and rightfully so.

Comments about REI Ti Ware Mug - 0.4 Liter:

I went to my local REI to purchase the double wall Ti mug yesterday but they didn't have it. So I bought the single wall. I'm glad I got the single wall since it holds more liquid. It fits in my MSR teapot, which fits in my Montbell pot so all of my cook wear nests and stores in the Montbell stuff sack. The cup does get super hot when you first fill it, but after a few minutes it's drinkable. I tested it today on a day hike and the temp was high 80's, will be interested to see how fast it looses heat in the winter, but I think it will be fine and actually a plus for the liquid to get to a drinkable temp quickly. At the Anniversary sale price it was a darn good deal.

Comments about REI Ti Ware Mug - 0.4 Liter:

The Ti Ware mug is a good mug. The weight is excellent. I carried the mug on several backpacking trips in the winter, and learned that the titanium lost heat much quicker than older heaver technologies like stainless steel. After several trips, I paid $1 for the top that comes standard on the double walled Ti Ware mug. I found it has kept heat much better since acquiring the lid. I have since taken a summer trip and found the cup to keep heat much longer than I expected. Overall the weight savings is well worth any heat loss, I only with REI would offer the cup with the lid on both the single and the double walled version.

Comments about REI Ti Ware Mug - 0.4 Liter:

This is a great little cup. I bought it in SF when visiting the states for a three month trip. I used it to boil cups of tea and other hot drinks. just put it straight on the stove. Only problem is the rubber handles which I cut off because obviously they wont take the heat of the cooker. An excellent small pot for boiling water, drinking from, and eating from. I love it

Sweet cup - small, light, durable. Only problem is the volume... 0.4 litres isn't much, so maybe think about the 0.7 litre version...
