Comments about Big Agnes Cyclone SL Chair Kit - 20'':

I called Big Agnes and they told me they had updated the chair to correct some of the issues they saw with the first generation. I (and my buddy who also has the chair) have used the heck out of it with no problems. They added reinforcing where customers had complained poles were wearing through. My chair is bomber!

Comments about Big Agnes Cyclone SL Chair Kit - 20'':

I used this chair one night of a backpack trip. I set it up on a rocky surface, by the end of the evening the stays had worn through the fabric. I was as careful as I could be (as Big Agnes suggested) but you don't always get to chose a camping spot.

Comments about Big Agnes Cyclone SL Chair Kit - 20'':

Like another reviewer, when I saw the Backpacker Gear award given to this product, and the low low weight, I had to have one. What a disappointment. I used the chair for ONE day in the Sierra Nevada's, and the aluminum stays wore through the nylon webbing. I combined this product with a brand new Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad which also failed after one day of use and sprung a leak. Sadly, I will be returning both, and sticking with the Therm-a-Rest Trekker chair which is heavier, but has lasted years without having to baby it. Big Agnes has come up with innovative designs, however, durability in their products seem to be an issue

Comments about Big Agnes Cyclone SL Chair Kit - 20'':

Big Agnes makes awesome products EXCEPT for this item. It's lightweight but poorly designed for its use. I destroyed it on one trip. Sitting on granite caused the aluminum stays to puncture through their Sil Nylon slots. Check the Therma Rest chair and note the heavy duty wear area. I've had my Therma Rest chair for years with no problems.

If you buy this item, don't be surprised to dump coffee on yourself when it explodes out from under you.

Comments about Big Agnes Cyclone SL Chair Kit - 20'':

Now i'll be honest, I require THREE luxuries while backpacking...1) Music (iPod and $5 Speakers), Liquor (Whiskey being the first choice) and 3) This Chair.

I first saw the big agnes easy chair on a backpacking trip and immediately grew envious. So I had to have one. Luckily for me, while at REI one day I found this one that is made of SL material.

Quite frankly, I dont know what people expect when they buy light gear. It's the same deal with the Seedhouse SL2 and SL1 reviews which i've both used(and no im not a big agnes rep, although I wish I was)...You will sacrifice a bit of durability(if not careful) for weight loss.

Quite frankly, if you can't use the chair cause of camp situations, why bother? It's a chair, its not a vital piece of equipment like socks or water rx. It's a LUXURY people.

I did, and the only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars, notice that there was a little more wear than expected on one of the stitchings, nevertheless I expect it to last many more trips and if it does fail, it's not like i'll be out of water and I will certainly buy another, for the price and all! Take care!

Comments about Big Agnes Cyclone SL Chair Kit - 20'':

I bought this based on the Backpacker award. I knew it was lightweight and a little delicate. I took real good care of this, made sure it was always on dirt not rocks and did not slide it around a lot. It lasted me for about 7 nights before the rods busted out. A friend on our last hike had his bust after 2-3 nights. The 15 thermarests on our hike did not have any issues and were handled a lot rougher.

I will be returning the dead chair and get a thermarest in its place.

I decided to purchase the cyclone as an additional chair for my wife to use on trips with me. Eager to try out the new chair I used it on a recent trip and the buckle broke within moments of me easing in to the chair. I have owned the big easy chair for years with no complaint, that chair is a solid workhorse with little show of wear, I think it could show the cyclone a thing or two about durability. Now that I have returned the cyclone I will purchase another big easy direct from big agnes.

Comments about Big Agnes Cyclone SL Chair Kit - 20'':

I got the Cyclone SL to use with my BA Insulated Air Core mat and was excited to have my mat do dual duty as a chair. I was disappointed to find, however, that my "mummy" shape mat did not work well with the chair. It was hard to get it set up and comfortable w/ the mummy shaped mat.

Then, after about 4 uses, it broke. I'm about 200 lbs, but usually treat my gear pretty well. I was really disappointed when sitting by the fire when one of the side straps ripped off.

So based on it not functioning well w/ my mummy-shaped pad and it breaking I returned it to REI and won't be getting a new one. It's back to sitting on the ground and leaning against trees for me.
