Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Regular:
This is by far the best sleep pad available. You get 2.5 inches of thickness comfort which is great for those of us who sleep on their sides like me. I am 6'2 and this pad works great! It weighs less then any other pad I could find in price range and comfort range. I took this on my 5 day hike up near Mt. Rainier and it provided comfort in remote places. I got the chair accessory which allows you to insert this into the sleeve (sold seperate) to make a nice comfortable camp chair in minutes. I highly recomend this as the last pad you will ever buy!! Oh yeah and it packs down to the size of a Nalgene bottle. It is a manual inflate bag but I had no problem after 9hour long days up around 9,000 feet. Took about 3 min to blow up.
Happy adventures!

OK heres the deal. This pad is a little heavy, but not unreasonable. This pad is hard to inflate, but deal with it. Lastly the pad is a kind of slippery so tie down your bag. Now the good. This pad is super comfertable. This pad is warm in cold weather. The pad packs up to nothing. It also comes with a repair kit, which I have never had to use. Overall it is good.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Pad - Regular:
After more than 20 years on a self-inflating pad, I decided to move to a pad that was(a) more comfortable and (b) more compact.I sleep on my side, and self-inflating pads don't provide enough cushion to my hips; this pad does. For both backpacking and kayaking, it is significantly smaller when stuffed than is a full-size self-inflating pad.The only downside I've experienced so far is that it definitely takes time to inflate and to deflate/roll up; it's not difficult, just more time-consuming than with a self-inflating pad.I have not experienced either the slippage or "squeakiness" that a couple of others have remarked upon.I suspect it is both less insulating in cold settings and more prone to puncture than a self-inflating pad, but I've had no problem in either area to date.

This is the BEST. No more 3/4" pads for me. These bones appreciate this pad after putting 10 or so miles on the trail. I've had this pad for about a year and a half, and I actually get a good sleep at night now. No sore back in the morning either (that could be to not packing the kitchen sink anymore). Totally worth the 20 breaths to blow it up. The trick for me to get it deflated all the way is to open up the valve while I'm laying on it in the morning before I get up. Now I'm going to get one for my son...he shouldn't have to wait 30 years like I did before getting one.

I have used a few other pads in the past. None come even close to the comfort of this pad. I used a foam pad for a long time. Then one night I didn't sleep a wink because I just couldn't get comfy. The next week I went shopping and after a LOT of looking, pricing, and testing I went with this pad. The very next trip it paid for itself.
I have slept on 5 feet of snow and couldn't feel any clod coming through. I slept in the only flat spot available, but it had a nice sharp rock sticking out. I put the pad down on the rock and forgot it was there till morning, when I picked the pad up. It has held up to some ruff spots for me. I love how tight it packs. I need every inch of my pack so that was a feature I was looking for when I bought the pad.
Like everyone else that wrote, I am also a side sleeper, and what I do is fill the pad full, then let out a little air till I feel comfortable.
I found the pads on sale a few months ago and bought 2 more for my friends. They used different pads but all they carry now is the Big Agnes.
I have and would recommend this pad to all my friends.

I bought this pad to use with the Big Agnes Lulu 15 deg bag. This slips right inside the bag leaving plenty of room to roll around without sliding off the pad. Does take a few minutes to inflate, but worth every breath! And, it rolls up to the size of a nalgene bottle. I'm a side sleeper and the key to optimal comfort is to not inflate it fully - it gave me the best night sleep in the woods ever.

This is pretty much a cross post of the BA mummy insulated air pad. Here's the scoop. I picked up a Pacific Outdoor Equip pad and it leaked the first night out. [...]. They steered me in the Big Agnes direction. And if you are interested in a lightweight, compact, DURABLE yet comfortable pad this one is the ticket. I actually got this pad for me and regular mummy version for me. The knowledgeable staff took it one step farther and sold me on the memory foam pad for my wife. She was amazed; having been camping for over 30 years, she had never slept better. Kudos to REI and BA

I took this thing up with me three days backpacking in the San Juans. Two of the nights i was sharing it with a very needy German Shepherd. So that's like 170lbs of my butt, and 95lbs of his (well half of him really). Claws scraping against it, you name it, this air pad took it all.
I was very worried when i bought this, figuring it for just a typical pool toy. It's bullet proof, atleast dog claw proof.
Down sides: it is quite slippery, and very noisy. Neither of these two things would keep me from buying it though.

Buy for the comfort... enjoy the size and weight.
It actually gives you PADDING, rather than just cover up small rocks and bumps.
Blows up super quick and easily, even at high altitude.
My only complaint is how slippery it is. More than once I've woken to find myself having slid half way off the pad... heaven forbid you tried to sleep on a slant.

Soo Comfy !!! Ok, a little heavy and time consuming - but with the added comfort, vesatility, and added warmth - its definately well worth the extra weight and time. I have even used mine to raft across a swollen river!!! When used with Big Agnes "Cyclone" chair kit (only .6 oz.) and it turns into a very comfortable camp chair. I even use the chair setup in my canoe. This is one of those luxury items that quickly become a neccessity!
