Comments about Exped DownMat 7 Air Pad - Regular:
Im a large woman that has done both back packing and car camping with my pad. I must have purchased the first EXPED 7 on the market and know that two of the problems that I encountered with my pad have been fixed. EXPED increased the baffles from 6 to 8 that keeps the down in place without the air gap that developed at the top of the baffles that I've encountered. The second thing that was corrected was the inflation system that was cumbersome on the old system because you had to be only at the head of the mat which made it difficult in a two man tent. I've had my down mat for five or more years now. My favorite feature is that mine is so thick with the 6 baffles! I love to sleep on an extremely soft bed and boy does this fill the bill. I sleep so comfortably that I literally feel like I'm at home in my own bed. I take it For overnight trips with family and find it's more comfortable than the beds they offer. My review of 4 stars is strickly based on my bag specific that is older and the two items that I encounterd. I even made my own chair for it not knowing that EXPED had one on the market. Weighs 8 oz!

Comments about Exped DownMat 7 Air Pad - Regular:
I purchased one of these for my wife, while I stayed true to my old Z-Rest. The difference was astounding: she got great nights' sleep, while I tossed and turned and felt every small rock and stick. I'm now getting one for myself. My current pack weight is 21 pounds, but for me, sleeping well will more than offset the extra weight.
We thought it would be slippery, but it seems to stay in place just fine.
The inflation is definitely an acquired skill. For those with inflation difficulties: we discovered that having the valve unscrewed too far causes a leak around the base of the valve cover while inflating, so that 3/4 of the air leaks out for every bagful of air we pumped in. Once we discovered this, inflation only took a short time.

Comments about Exped DownMat 7 Air Pad - Regular:
I prefer to keep my pack light, but I can't give up a good night's sleep. After camping and backpacking for years, I've decided to take this one luxury item along, and it has been well worth the weight. If I don't sleep well, it's not because I'm uncomfortable. I haven't had a problem with leaks or with inflating it. You use the stuff sack to inflate the matress.

Comments about Exped DownMat 7 Air Pad - Regular:
Took this pad out backpacking last weekend. Tried it out on prickly surface and it with held being punctured even when a 80 lb German Shorthair walked all over it. Difficulty in learning the inflation technique, but well worth the comfort. Going to use 20% discount to purchase second one.

Love this sleeping pad. Great insulator when the ground is cold... The pump system is a little funny, but the comfort is amazing. Didn't experience any valve problems... I could not go back to thermarest.

Do not buy this. I bought short version. But it leaked some air for the first use. The valve is very weak,so the air leaks from there. [...] Stay away from this mats!
