Comments about Kelty Light Year XP +40 Sleeping Bag - Long:
Nominally a summer bag, it can actually be used from mid-spring through mid-fall. At 2 pounds, it's a tad on the heavy side as compared to other warm-weather bags, but the Light Year XP's weight is about the same as a number of more expensive 3-season rated polyester-fill bags (in the +30 range), which this bag should be compared to.
The mummy shape is also a little more generous in the shoulders and hips than most bags, which allows for good movement/ventilation on warmer nights. The hood is nicely designed, too, and will pretty well hold in place a stuff sack filled with clothes and used for a pillow.
The bag stuffs down to a fairly small size. The compression-style stuff sack just barely contains the bag, and the compression feature really isn't all that useful -- the extra buckles and straps mostly wind up being just extra and unneeded weight. I'd suggest substituting a "real" compression bag, or just a regular, unadorned stuff sack of the same size.
The quality of workmanship is excellent, typical for Kelty, and for the price this is a good all-around bag which should be expected to give years of good service.
