Oh man, I bought these pants after what seemed like the eternal search. I was that lady on the floor [...] surrounded by every pair of rain pants they had.It was a very Goldilocks experience, with the leg zips on most pants either being too short to allow for easy on/off over hiking boots, or going all the way to the waist, thus increasing bulk and weight.Putting on these pants was the "just right" part of the experience. The zippers are generous, going about to my knees and allowed me to easily put these pants on over everything else - pants and boots- while standing up. This is a must for me, as my main use for these will be hiking or backpacking. When it starts to rain, you don't have the time to take your boots off, or the space to sit on the floor writhing around fighting with your pants, which was the experience I had with every other pair.The material is GoreTex paclite, which is the lightest and most packable. The construction and quality are both pure ArcTeryx- if you own anything of this brand, you know what I mean and if you don't know that it's worth the investment.Overall, these were the pricier of the pant options I found, but really the only ones that made sense for my type of adventuring. Tried them out in the shower last night, so far so good.

I used these pants on a two-week rafting trip in the Arctic on a river with a lot of class II and III rapids. We took a lot of water over the bow from standing waves. These pants were fantastic. They performed exactly as I would expect of good quality Gore-Tex products. The leg zips are waterproof and were sufficiently long that it was easy to take the pants on and off while wearing boots. I also wore them on several day hikes in rainy and windy conditions, and found them to be nice and breathable while keeping me dry. They are durable and easily withstood a lot of climbing in and out of rafts and scrambling over rock fells. Overall, a great rainpant.
