Comments about Salomon XT Wings Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I bought these shoes on 3/1/08. I have run in them about 20 times on pavement, trails and the Phoenix canals. Great shoes. Comfortable. Pronation control. Not too heavy. I love the lacing system. You have to cinch them pretty tight before a run, but then the laces give a little and are perfect. Too bad the Kevlar laces broke today. Laces should last more than 2 months and 20 runs. Kevlar is supposed to be stronger than steel. Worst part is I could not retie or relace the laces easily. I went to REI. [...] REI gave me a "quick lace kit" consisting of two laces and 10 plastice parts. Problem is I couldn't thread the laces through the small eyelets, so I never had the chance to test my skills with the 10 plastic parts. [...]Salomon has a problem here.

Comments about Salomon XT Wings Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I was looking for a shoe with a bit more cushioning on uneven, rocky terrain. I do 6-10 mile trail runs on weekends in the San Diego foothills and run organized trail marathons and half's a few times a year. An hour after I bought these I ran 7 miles and 2600ft gain/loss on dirt and rock. They were exactly what I was looking for. Cushioned and stable, no hot spots even on first run, good snug fit without tightness. I've read a number of reviews concerning loosening laces. I had no problem on this first try. Hopefully it will stay that way. I also have a pair of La Sportiva Fireblades. Also fine shoes but better for quick racing on fire roads where there's not so much rock.

Comments about Salomon XT Wings Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
These shoes are tough and fairly comfortable. They are also very stable which is good for some semi-technical trails as long as they are dry and hard packed. These shoes do not shed mud well and feel a little on the heavy side even when dry. Also, if you like your shoes tight, be advised that the sensifit lacing will come loose a little bit. Still, a good multi-purpose trail running shoe.

Comments about Salomon XT Wings Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I bought my Salomon XT Wings in November of 2008. I'm just about to buy my second pair. I ran with them on the Seattle roads, but they were my go-to shoes on all late fall/winter trail runs in the North Cascades/Methow Valley. Some of my running buddies told me they couldn't fit into these shoes, and it's true that they are narrow, but if you have high arches and narrow feet like me you're good-to-go.
I can't think of any cons about this shoe other than I want them to last longer. I'll get some more life out of them for my shorter runs, but after the 6 month mark you don't want to take a long rugged trail run - it'll kill your feet.
Overall, I think these shoes hold up pretty well.

Comments about Salomon XT Wings Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
Comfortable right out of the box. Supportive enough for even terrain and fair ventilation for warm weather workouts. Cushioning does break down quicker than the rest of the shoe. The first pair is now for yardwork (used for four months) and am on second pair. Like the shoe, just wish it lasted longer.

Comments about Salomon XT Wings Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
Not sure why there are so many positive reviews for this shoe. I wear Saucony's for the running I do, bought these to have a waterproof shoe to get around Seattle in during the winter. I noticed that I'm having some of the same issues that others had with the shoe, and I would say these have been handled with kid gloves over the last 5 months. The "kevlar" laces broke, the soles are wearing really quickly and starting to come apart. All of this happened on the rugged terrain that is the University District and my laboratory at the UW, so good luck if you plan to use these in their intended manner.

Comments about Salomon XT Wings Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
Had a pair of the Comps and really liked them for off-road travels. On the road, however, the soles wore down too fast and there wasn't enough cushioning. These solve the problem PERFECTLY. I walk/hike about 100 miles/month on a mixture of roads and trails. On these shoes, the sole is much more pavement-friendly than the Comps and the cushion is perfect. They offer the support of a light hiker with the comfort of a slightly heavier running shoe. I LOVE these shoes -- especially the cool orange color -- and will be getting another pair. I wear a 10 in casual work shoes but got a 10.5 in these and they fit perfectly. HIGHLY recommend them!!!

Comments about Salomon XT Wings Trail-Running Shoes - Men's:
I love Salomon trails shoes and have had great luck with their XA Pro Comp shoes. Wanted to try something knew, saw these heavily advertised so ordered a pair. I went a size bigger, from 13 to 14 as the old ones were feeling tight. My first run they gave me blisters in front of the arch. Tried them again on a longer run and just about destroyed my feet. On the trail I could feel every rock and they were not as stable as the Pros. I am wondering if they eliminated the heavy plate of the older shoes? I love the lacing system, think many of my problems were related to the larger size so don't give up on them based on my review. However, I do not think these are as stable and bomb proof as the Pros. I returned them and another pair of the Pros.
