Comments about REI The Mini Sling Bag - Women's:
I have had my mini sling for about 3 years. I have brought it all over the country and abroad. I find it very handy to hold things and keep my hands free and it's the perfect size. I have bought 5 more as gifts over the past because I get so many compliments on it. I have heard that the stitching comes loose, but I haven't had any trouble. I have used it well and it still looks brand new. I would highly recommend this bag.

Comments about REI The Mini Sling Bag - Women's:
I used this bag as a daypack on my recent jaunt across Europe, and I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed. I love REI's stuff, but I think they didn't think this one all the way through. They provide strap loops on both sides of the bag, even though the way the zippers are set up, this sling bag only works well on one shoulder. The strap kept slipping, and after just a week, the stitches holding it together were starting to come apart. The bag isn't great for areas that are warmer because the strap doesn't breath well at all. I really like the eco-friendly idea, but in the end, it was more eco- than traveler-friendly.

Comments about REI The Mini Sling Bag - Women's:
This bag fits a size niche that makes it very useful for men. Able to hold a thin pullover, guidebooks, snack and camera, it is perfect for packing lightly when jumping on and off of subways, trams, etc. It rotates easily to the front for museum bag placement rules, for security in crowds, and to act as a balance shelf for a camera. The interior clips are useful to tether a camera, and adding a couple of little carabiners can provide zipper security in sketchy areas. I don't get the "organizer", which seems to not be very useful. The bag just fits a Macbook if it is the first item packed and last unpacked; a wee bit more size would help. The strap is difficult to reconfigure to reverse shoulders. With the strap cinched up tight, the bag is fairly stable for biking or climbing. The bag is a little warm in hot weather. It would be great to see some mesh strap design that is wide to evenly distribute the load as the padded strap does.

Comments about REI The Mini Sling Bag - Women's:
I live in London and bought this bag a year ago while on a trip to Seattle. I'd had a similar bag but was disappointed with the capacity; and I was tired of practical but ugly daypacks which don't look stylish in a large city. This one holds a surprising amount, while still looking compact, and the pockets are well designed. There's a small one at the top that is designed for an iPod but I use it for snack bars. The outside pocket for a water bottle can be zipped up when not in use for a neater look.
I regularly use this bag for a day out with my daughter, filling it with snacks, a book, colouring book and pens.
The only drawbacks I've found so far is that the ribbons on the zipper pulls have twice gotten caught in the zippers. On both occasions I've had to cut the ribbons off in order to be able to use the zippers. And although the strap length is adjustable, it doesn't seem to stay where you've adjusted it.
One other thing -- it's a single strap bag so for ages I just carried it over one shoulder. Almost by accident one day I discovered that it's easier to carry it across your body -- strap on the opposite shoulder from the side you're carrying the bag. It is easy to pull it round to the front to unzip the pockets without having to take it off your shoulder.

Comments about REI The Mini Sling Bag - Women's:
This is a great bag to carry around for a day of sightseeing or wandering. It's light and carries more than you expect but also makes you pack light (if you're usually incapable, like I am). I bought it for our 3 week trip to Japan and it was everything I wanted. A bit more stylish than a traditional backpack (the blue is lovely), but still utterly practical.
This bag fit our hefty guidebook, maps, a sweater or small jacket, camera, rail passes, wallet, notebook, washcloth, etc. The pockets are great and easy to access when the sling is on one side. The option to switch sides is really best just for giving your shoulder a rest.
The only con is that the strap doesn't get any shorter. I'd want it to be completely tight across my back, but it ends up hanging a bit, which tires out your shoulder. If I didn't pack it as full of heavy items - water bottle or book - it was absolutely fine, though.
Hidden pro: the "cell phone" pocket on the strap is the perfect size for a metro pass or museum ticket. Easy access!
I wouldn't be able to use it as an overnight bag, but some who don't need as much stuff might be able to.

This is a great small bag for GUYS and GALS. Don't know why they market it as a WOMENS bag. If it were pink and had floral patterns on it, I would not be using it. Mines black.
I lug my netbook, blackberry, digital camera, glasses, pens, everywhere and have plenty of room for sticking more stuff in. If you need more room...get the larger version of the mini.

Comments about REI The Mini Sling Bag - Women's:
I have owned this bag for over a year and love it. I use it as my everyday bag. It fits my laptop (just barely), a couple of books, a hoodie/sweater, water bottle, umbrella in the side pouch, deodorant in the top pouch, wallet, moleskine day planner, pens, ipod, cell phone in the front stretchy pouch(right where I can hear it ring).
I like that this bag is deceptively large, it looks cute and stylish and slim but can hold quite a bit stuff. When it's very full of heavy things it can get a bit uncomfortable after 10 minutes or so since you can't quite cinch it tight enough to rest completely against your back, but overall it is great for everyday use. It's very easy to access the pockets while you are wearing it, just swing it to the front to grab your wallet. I really like that I can just throw it on and forget about it and it's out of my way and not going to fall off.
And on top of all of that, it comes in the most lovely shade of my favorite color, purple! I am so glad I bought this bag. I have not had ANY problems whatsoever with zippers or stitching, I use and abuse this bag everyday and it looks just as good as the day I bought it. The one exception is the stretchy pouch in the front where I keep my cell phone...it's starting to rip, but that's probably my fault for keeping constantly shoving my bulky cell phone in there.

Comments about REI The Mini Sling Bag - Women's:
This bag is terrific for travel. It is the perfect size to hold my Mac air, along with other travel essentials. The small compartment at the top is perfect for small items--ipod, etc. The side pockets hold an umbrella and a small water bottle. This bag has a useful number of pockets--enough to separate items, but not so many that you can't find anything. The size worked well for me (5'5") and my son (6'3"). The strap can be set to use the bag over either shoulder. No quality issues at all--zippers are good, stitching is secure. My only complaint is that I wish the front straps were entirely black, rather than black and grey.

Comments about REI The Mini Sling Bag - Women's:
I use this sling as a compact general purpose carry bag. When I don't know what I'm doing or where I'm going, I usually carry this. I've had it for over a year now, and it's been all over from Southeast Asia, and Kazakhstan to French Guiana.
It has a slot in the main compartment that fits my 10" tablet perfectly. In addition, the main compartment has enough room to accommodate my DSLR insert pouch, which holds my Camera+18-250mm lens, spare 30mm prime and a few accessories. Even with that, there is still room for a mini-tripod, windbreaker jacket and snacks.
There are two side pockets that can carry water bottles, lens or other items. I use the top pocket to carry spare batteries, mobile phone or other items I want quick access to.
I use the bag's tethered insert to carry a flashlight, pens, paper etc.
It has served me well so far and I expect to continue using it for another few years.
