Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I have wide feet and had a terrible time finding boots that didn't squish my toes. I finally tried these in a 9 wide and they felt so much better than any of the others. I've backpacked 12 miles and day hiked 6 miles in them so far, and I'm very happy. It didn't take much to break them in, they are very comfortable, they provide lots of support, and my feet have stayed dry despite some muddy and wet trails. There is still a little friction on the tops of my pinky-toes by the end of each trip, but they are so much better than any of the other boots I tested out.

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I've just taken these on a day hike at Starved Rock so far, but after a few miles with a pack on they still felt great. I'm a big fan of Superfeet which have given me amazing comfort. The only hot spot I had was on the top of one foot. With thicker socks and adjusting the laces I'm confident that these shoes will be comfortable on a week long backpacking trip I'm taking soon. These shoes are also much lighter than they look.

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I bought these boots because i was backpacking the 100 mile wilderness in Maine (last 100 miles of the AT). about 2 weeks before i was supposed to leave i cut the front of my ankle and couldn't wear them in as much as i wanted they were still stiff when i headed out but i had no blisters. i did wear sock liners and Nikwaxed them as a precation. over 100 miles of roots rocks mud and streams through 2 days of rain i was the only one in my group that still had dry feet (i didn't even bring gators). my feet were sore down hill on all rock but i think that was more the weight of the pack i carried and not the boots i might get an insole for next time (or pack lighter) even when my feet swelled they were still comfortable.

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

With little to no break in, I wore these--blister free!-- for a two week trek through the Himalayan foothills. After hours of hiking uphill, downhill, through rain, mud, rocks, and sunshine, I was the only one with fresh, dry, blister-free feet. Even with a 35 pound pack, a pair of thick socks and the awesome arch support made it feel like I was hiking on air. I recommend these boots 100%+ and have nothing but great things to say about them!

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I've had these about 4 years, and have hiked many miles all over Kauai (through many streams), Glacier National Park, Yosemite, and the California Central Coast. I find them very sturdy, comfortable (and I have bad feet and find few shoes of any kind comfortable). They also have excellent traction, and are great for boulder hopping and rocky ground. They are a bit heavy, but not TOO heavy to handle. I looked at my soles the other day and they still look like they have many miles before they will be worn out! For some reason my shoelaces come untied more often than I would like, but that may be due to my poor tying techniques....I'm not sure!

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

I've had two pairs of this model. The first lasted me two years and I loved them, no break in time for those. My last pair needed a little breaking in, but not much. The one bad thing was both soles cracked within a year. I got them August of 2007 and they cracked when I was working in Utah August 2008. I was surprised, although I was hiking on mostly lava rock most of the day for work.

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:

Caveat: I'm giving these shoes five stars even though I haven't been backpacking in them yet, however, I am thoroughly pleased with them and expect no difficulties when I do add a pack. While looking around I tried on at least 20 pairs at REI (including lightweight hikers). This was the only boot that didn't slip, pinch, or dig into my ankles (although the Vasques were in a general a better fit for me), About the only shoes I really like are chacos, and I have pretty high volume over the arch with some over-pronation issues. There was a minor pressure point on the left upper part of the lacing on my right foot, but with two pairs of good smartwool socks (one thick, one thinner) I had practically no trouble with pressure points when I first took these camping with me to Yosemite, and I was in them 12-16hrs at a time from three days hiking, biking, scrambling around river beds, and making s'mores. The only time they weren't very comfortable was when I wore them while driving home. I typically wear 9-9.5 in shoes, and the 10s fit me very well with a pair of green superfeet added for extra arch support. These are boots I can actually look forward to wearing again.
