This incredibly light Mountain Hardwear Phantom bag maximizes warmth and minimizes weight and bulk—ideal for alpinists and backpackers.

  • Performance mummy cut brings the down insulation closer to the body without being uncomfortably restrictive
  • Provides extra room at the elbows and hips, while reducing volume around the head and from hips to knees
  • Three-quarter-length zipper enhances weight savings
  • Insulated with superior European 800-fill-power goose down, blended and lab-certified in the United States
  • Super-light, high-tenacity nylon shell features a highly water-resistant acrylic finish
  • Box baffle construction creates maximum loft with minimum weight; 5-in. baffle width keeps down from shifting and prevents cold spots
  • Warmth is optimized through differential cut of shell and lining fabrics, allowing the goose down adequate room to expand to its full loft
  • Insulated draft tube isn't sewn through and extends to bottom of bag to eliminate cold spots
  • Multi-baffle, tailored hood brings the sides of the hood in close to the neck and face, reducing the need to cinch the hood tight to keep warm
  • Ergonomic collar drapes comfortably over neck and shoulders, sealing out drafts; no need to cinch it unless it's close to bag's temperature limits
  • When it's cold enough to cinch down hood, face gasket makes hood closure more comfortable and effective
  • Multibaffle Comfort Foot Box is shaped to allow feet to rest naturally; shape preserves loft and allows down to drape closer to feet for more warmth
  • Two-way locking zipper sliders stay in place when bag is partially unzipped for ventilation; snag-guards keep fabric from catching in zipper
  • Insulated zipper gusset seals in heat at base of zipper
  • Comes with stuff sack and mesh storage bag

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Phantom +32 Sleeping Bag - Long:

A friend and I both used this bag on an 8 day summer hike through the sierra. It worked great and was plenty warm. It kept insulating us even though after 8 days we were a bit grimy. This bag stows quickly and easily, and the down lofts up quickly. It was a bit cold on a local spring hike where it dipped to about 32 degrees. Bearable, but not comfy.

I am 6' 3" and have very wide shoulders, (54L jacket) and this was the only bag in its class at the store that I fit into. So if you are wide to, give this one a shot.

We did not have any problems with clumping or damp spots at all. I also like that the storage sack is not a compression bag. Its lighter without the extra straps, and honestly, it squeezes down to about the size of a 32oz bottle.

Overall, it performs well. This bag is one of my favorite pieces of gear. Highly recommended.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Phantom +32 Sleeping Bag - Long:

This is the perfect bag for weather above 45 degrees. I was skeptical before purchasing since it weighs basically nothing, but after being conviced[...]I decided to try it. What a mistake. I froze last weekend in the sierras. The weather dipped to about 30 degrees at night, so I ended up having to cut my trip short. The other two people I went with had sierra designs 30 degree bags and similar clothing. They were warm all night. Don't make the same mistake I did, go with a bag with more loft if you are anywhere near freezing. Oh, and I did wear 4 layers as well, a base layer, my mid layer, my heavy layer and my sahara shirt.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Phantom +32 Sleeping Bag - Long:

This sleeping bag rocks. I've had it for close to a year now and I was skeptical when I bought it. I didn't think that something so light weight and small would keep me warm, but it didn't disappoint!

I've let a couple of my friends borrow it for camping trips and they've all come back telling me what a great sleeping bag it is.

I haven't used it in low (close to 32) temperatures yet, but I wouldn't be afraid to give it a try!

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Phantom +32 Sleeping Bag - Long:

We auditioned a number of bags while looking for light weight gear 2yrs ago. These (one large, one regurlar) were one of just a few with ample girth and an (almost) no-snag zipper. We like how the hood and shoulder closures adjust and the quality is first rate. There one of the pieces of gear we're truly fond of.

Using a silk liner and changing to thin, dry poly pro leggings and fleece tops they've been just comfortable inside a tarp-tent on icy ground on nights when our water bottles have partially frozen, though good sleeping pads are essential for this.

It packs small enough to carry as an emergency quilt when traveling by air.

Some new choices have appeared recently, but these remain our standard of comparison.

Great Bag worth every penny. Mountain Hardware products are always worth the money and never disappointed. Did the 100 mile of wilderness in summer 08. Packs up to the size of a water bottle. Plenty warm for the given conditions... (low of 45 deg). Light, light. Not alot of bells and whistles but that what is was look for. Buy it and you will be happy.
