Comments about Outdoor Research Foray Rain Jacket - Men's:
Had to replace a North Face Flight Series Pac-Lite rain jacket that I loved, but was lost in transit on a previous trip. This jacket is a touch heavier but has a great fit and more pockets. Still very light though and packs small. Water rolls right off even in sustained heavy downpour. Breathes well and plenty of vents, but the lack of a mesh liner (like the NF shell had) means the shell sticks to you a bit. Lastly, the plain monocolor style and print-on logos (as opposed to embroidered) make this jacket look cheaper than it is. Would be nice it it were offered in 2-tone and with higher end markings that reflected the quality of the jacket. Overall very happy with it and feel it will last a long time. Note: this jacket is sized large to accommodate thick under layers. I ended up buying a small (which fits great and leaves room for a light fleece with full range of motion) although I usually wear a medium.

Comments about Outdoor Research Foray Rain Jacket - Men's:
I have always been a cheap skate when it comes to rain gear (rain is not THAT big of a deal in Colorado) but when it actually does rain, it pours, and my rain gear has always failed miserably. I learned Rain gear is one place to spend the $$$ - so I decided to break the bank and get a quality rain jacket, and the Gortex Pack-lite seemed to be the best material for pack-ability. It does not pack as small as some of my older ultralight gear, but that is the price for actually staying dry. I was considering this and another obscenely expensive brand that was also pack-lite (which would have, admittedly, been cool to have) but feel in the end this is a better jacket due to the full zip pits. The "other" brand didn't have zip pits at all, and that was a deal killer. Also not as athletic of a fit as the "other" brand, which I would have liked. The pockets are strategically placed to be above a full padded waist belt - smart thinking. I used this jacket when I got caught in a full three hour downpour last weekend while hiking with a pack and I stayed 100% dry. I didn't necessarily need the full zip pits as it was hovering around 45-50 deg. but think they will be invaluable when it gets warmer. Hood worked well.
I also plan to use this jacket for through hiking in adventures in Europe and SE Asia.

Comments about Outdoor Research Foray Rain Jacket - Men's:
I plan on doing some extended trips this summer, and I was looking for a light-weight, water and wind proof shell that can accommodate layering underneath, as well pack small. After going to a few stores and trying on every shell I could find, I picked up this coat, slipped it on over my fleece zip-up, and I knew it was the one.
Many of the shells felt tight around the chest, and had restricted arm movement with a layer underneath. This jacket gives you a complete full range of movement, and it's long enough that when you reach, it doesn't pull up, exposing your stomach. And no matter which way you stretch your arms, the sleeves are long enough that the cuffs will always remain at your wrists. Also, the collar offers great protection of the face, and the hood is very adjustable, and doesn't make it feel like you are wearing blinders!
Since I've bought it, I've worn it every day, hiking and cross-country skiing, or just walking around town. I haven't tested it in the rain yet, but in the wind and snow, it does fantastic!

Comments about Outdoor Research Foray Rain Jacket - Men's:
I bought this for extensive travel, including thru-hiking, climbing, and backpacking. I was torn between this and a much more expensive jacket from an unnamed brand. [...] I bought it, and have not been disappointed. absolutely waterproof, good features (2 chest pockets, 2 deep side pockets, and the poncho-style pit zips are great) the hood rolls up which is nice, and the hood is fully customizable to increase your view. also, it fits great, with enough room for a thick fleece, which immediately adds a lot of warmth. i haven't tested it in winter climates, but will be doing so as soon as possible. good for climbing and any other sport you could imagine.

Comments about Outdoor Research Foray Rain Jacket - Men's:
After an extensive search, I decided on the OR Foray for use as an all-around travel jacket. The weight and bulk are outstanding and the features, such as pockets and hood adjustment, are great (well, maybe the hem-to-underarm pit zips are a little much). The problem on a recent trip to Japan in 40- to 50-degree rainy weather was that the Pac-Lite is stiff and somewhat noisy (compared to other lightweight waterproof/breathable fabrics), has no inherent warmth (as my old Moonstone jacket did), and feels kind of clammy inside (a mesh liner would help, in my opinion); I almost always had to wear at least a fleece vest underneath. It did shed water well, though, and probably would fare better for travel in warmer climates.
