Comments about Salomon Extend Low Cross-Training Shoes - Women's - '05 Closeout:
I have recently gotten very addicted to day hiking. These were perfect for my needs and budget. I noticed right away my feet felt so much better in them than my walking shoes. I did not even wear arch supports...they were just great. I have pretty wide feet...and the 8.5 fit me perfectly, so they are probably a bit wide, all the better for me ;)

These were terrific on a short hike; no blisters, no fatigue, not heavy, good grip. Do make sure you double knot the laces-- they loosened a lot without unknotting so I didn't notice for a while, and this could be dangerous on uneven terrain or steep trails. Note also that they're not waterproof-- the mesh lets in water readily. Overall, still a great buy.

I bought these to do my weekly hikes. I wish they were a little less stiff and heavy, but my feet will adjust. So far I really like them, and for the price they were a steal. I have wide feet and good hiking shoes often cost me twice the price. I am buying the same brand for my kids who have wide feet too. Do not buy these unless you have wide feet. This brand would not work for my husband who has long and narrow feet.

UPS just delivered these and I'm wearing them around the apt now. My feet are on the wide side, but in sneakers a regular size 9.5 is usually comfy enough, and these feel VERY good so I assume they're a little wider than usual. They seem pretty rugged and stable so far. I'll post an update if something new comes up after testing them outdoors.

Just want to say they run about half a size too big.
