Comments about Marmot Never Summer +0 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
As long as you know what you're getting, you can't possibly go wrong with this bag. I've got an older version that I've had for over two years; slept in it for weeks and months at a time, taken it everywhere from backpacking in Ireland to mountaineering in the Andes, and never spent a cold night. As long as you keep this baby dry and don't go camping in the Himalayas or Antartica, you should be just fine. Sure there are other bags out there that can boast the same, (maybe even at a lighter weight) but for the same cost, you'd be hard pressed to find a rival to this bad boy.

I shopped around quite a bit before buying this bag. I needed a bag with a considerable amount of loft due to a back injury. On my first trip out with the Never Summer it was so cold outside I was unable to stop shaking. After climbing into my bag I began to thaw within seconds. I awoke warm and rested without a hint of back pain(also attributed to my prolite 4). To my suprise it had hailed and rained all night and the condensation in my tent had soaked into the bottom of the bag; although the shell was wet, it stayed dry on the inside. Not the lightest bag, but if you want warmth and comfort, that's exactly what you'll get.

A Great Bag! I've used this (feels Like Summer inside) bag on several February trips in the Allegheny Mtns with single digit lows and never felt a cold spot, woke up one morning from heavy condensation inside tent, bag was wet in areas outside, but never felt it inside.
It may not be lightest bag for a minimalist, but for the money it is a hard bag to say no to...Got a kick out of the added extra (heat pack compartment in the footend) it was a great bell & whistle feature that got (and kept) my feet warm after a cold hike through deep wet snow and couldn't get my feet warmed by time we turned in for the night...It was and still is a great buy = for the money!

I have taken this bag on a few mountaineering trips where the temps are around 0 degrees F and this bag has always come through. I would agree with some of the other reviews that said you could find a lighter or more compressed bag. However, after researching for months before climbing Mt. Shasta, I couldn't find any other down bag that came near the value for the features.
On that Shasta trip, we had temps around 0 degrees with 50 MPH sustained winds and gusts up to 70 MPH, and I was warm through the whole time. The bag was perfect!
That said, I do use a waterproof compression sack with mine and have sprayed it with water-proofing to help protect against moisture. I would recommend this bag 100%, especially for Fall/Winter/Spring and snow camping. I think the name speaks for itself that it might be a bit of overkill in the summer where a lighter, smaller bag will suffice.
All in all, there is no way I would give up this bag and will have it as part of my gear arsenal for years to come.

Great bag! Its a little on the large size, and somewhat heavy, but its a zero degree bag. I need to get a compression sack for it though. The stuff sack provided is a little large, and I think I can make it about the size of a melon. For the price I would say its a great buy for anyone looking for a warm down bag. I've been told marmot makes the best down bags, and I'm a believer. I camped at about 8,000 feet in 4 feet of snow in January with this bag, and only had a summer weight 3/4 length pad under it, and managed to stay warm (enough to sleep, though it was "chilly"), even though the temp was down in the 0 to -5 degree range.

Comments about Marmot Never Summer +0 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I LOVE this bag! Another invaluable upgrade to my camping gear. Once I'm in, I don't even notice the cold until it's time to get up and out of the bag (always the hardest part). I found the hood to be an exceptionally nice fit and really notice the difference draft collars w/ separate draw strings make. I had it out in a five degree night car camping (which I'm told actually adds to the cold w/ all the metal) and slept surprisingly well.
Only two minor complaints; the zipper does snag on the way up for me but that can be avoided w/ the right fingering. Besides, the draft tube does its job once you're tucked in, so it's well worth it. Other than that, I've woken to condensation around the opening, but as other folks have mentioned, always managed to stay dry inside.
Overall, highly effective and well worth the $. I'ld rather be happy w/ my bag and sleep than have a slightly lighter load any day. I'm pretty happy w/ the fit as well, just enough room for a 5'3" frame that moves around a lot in his sleep. Though hook loops for attaching to a pad would have been nice, but I'm not complaining.
