Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
Like a previous reviewer, this jacket does NOT breath! The first time I wore it, I had on a short sleeve t-shirt on and my arms felt sticky/sweaty all day eventhough the temp was about 65 degrees. I left the vents open all day and when just doing a bit of brisk walking, I got overheated. It also makes quite a bit of noise and the white interior (including the hood) is a bit weird looking. It does keep the rain out and has a stylish cut, but I felt like I was wearing a plastic bag all day. I will be returning it.

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
This is a solid rain jacket and is perfect for layering, especially if you live in an area that's rainy. Previously, I had used an anorak type of pullover and an REI rain jacket. This jacket was given to me as a gift (from a friend) in 2007, and it has been used daily/weekly and on trips. Since getting this jacket, I have moved to Belgium a country known for it's rainy wet weather. I use this jacket daily here for walking, biking and daily commuting needs (I don't have a car).
Things I love about this: it blocks out wind, it fits my petite frame, it layers well (I put a down jacket under this while traveling), it holds up well in constant rainy weather (4-6 hours at a time of walking/biking around cities while raining), it is packable when traveling, it's durable (3 years of heavy use and it's still great).
Things that could be improved: reinforced lining in the pockets as opposed to mesh, the hood can restrict your vision, although it really does keep the rain out when it's raining sideways; other than that I have minimal complaints.

I have worn this a handful of times in rainy weather. I like that it's lightweight when you are in a warm rainfall. And that if you get too warm you can open up zippers. It's not constricting at all. My only complaint would be that the hood is oversized on me.

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
I scored this jacket on super clearance and look forward to using it when the weather gets cold or when I next go traveling.
The jacket is very lightweight and folds up really small, fitting easily into my backpack raincover compartment. I would definitely be taking this traveling, as it layers nicely to keep me warm with a fleece / sweater underneath.
Despite being lightweight, this jacket is by no means flimsy - not the 'trash bag' type material rain jackets that come in stuff sacks. This jacket holds its shape well after you unfold it and the wrinkles seem to straighten out real easy too.
The collar comes up pretty high and the hood is slightly rigid on the front, creating a shaped profile instead of a regular soft hood that just conforms to the shape of your head.
As other reviews have pointed out, there isn't a compartment to stow the hood, so if you do throw it back in the rain, it would fill up with water.
The material is also quite noisy, but I tend to tune out after several minutes of the 'swish swish' each time I move my arms when I walk.
I am pleased with the very low price I paid for it, but honestly I don't think it's worth what it costs full price.

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
I've bought this jacket twice; it's tempting because the price is so low, especially when it's on sale. However, both times I've had it, the waterproofing has worn out within a year. The first time, I wore it simply in Washington; it rains a lot here, but not torrentially, so it shouldn't have leaked. I wore the second one also in Pennsylvania in the snow, so I suppose that wore it out more quickly (the second one only lasted six months). If you're planning on wearing this jacket every day, I would invest in a nicer, more durable jacket. If you're just looking for an extremely light jacket to take into the woods, this will do the job. But be careful and make sure that it still works before you wear your down under it!

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
I LOVE this coat!! I have it in yellow and am back to buy it in another color. While I haven't put it to any extreme tests, I have found that it does a perfect job of keeping me dry in rain and drizzle with good ventilation. I really appreciate the velcro closure tabs, in addition to the front zipper as that helps with ventilation since I don't have to zip it to keep it from flopping in the wind. I love the style of it as I'm a "pear shape" and really appreciate having a jacket that covers my hips that I can actually also zip up as most jackets these days that fit in the shoulders, end up being too tight in the hips. Hands-down the best rain jacket I've ever owned.

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
Well, I have had this coat for maybe 2+ years. I payed [$] for it then. Apparently its a womans coat. That might explain the weird fit I had. It still looks pretty cool despite being too baggy. Its light weight too. Feels almost like an elaborate garbage bag poncho. It has been dependable. cons: After years of use the lining in the hood is starting to flake off. The most annoying part about this jacket is how the sleeves seem to condensate and get wet on the inside. So, whether it waterproof or not doesn't matter because usually I would end up soaking wet from the inside as soon as I start any hike. So, with the baggy fit, sticky icky arms, and a poor hood design I feel I wouldn't recommend this. There are better products out there.

Comments about The North Face Venture Rain Jacket - Women's:
This jacket is great! I recently ordered it in the orchid purple and it is beautiful and vibrant! I love all the bright colors they come in! My best friend also has the black. I wore my jacket to the movie theatre a few weeks ago and it kept me perfect temperature in the theatre. But when I stepped outside in the cold wind, I suddenly felt freezing!! For me, this jacket is mainly just for school wear, or hanging out indoors or in nice/45 degrees or above weather. It is definately not for freezing windy temperatures. If you must, throw a sweatshirt under. Overall, I WOULD purchase this because it is stylish, VERY comfortable, breathable, and worth your money because I can almost guarantee you will wear it constantly
