Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
I got these pants to use for dragon boating (paddling). I love that they can be worn in 3 ways, not just 2 (shorts, capris, or pants). They are flattering enough in all 3 forms to wear around town, unlike other versions of convertible pants which often look pretty horrible on. I definitely have a "real woman's" figure (i.e. big in the hips and thighs), so I was quite pleased that these looked good (If you have more of a "stick" or "tomboy" shape, you may want to get 1 size smaller than usual). Length is a tad longer than some petite pants (I have a 29" inseam and they work for me, whereas often petites seems to have a 28" inseam.) A little bonus--they color-coded the zippers so that you know which leg attaches to which side. Only complaint is that I wish they had the button flap on both sides of each leg for the capri pant form (it's only on the outside of the leg, so when you roll them up to be capris, the rolled cuff can droop a little on the inside of the leg.)

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
These fit the best out of all of the convertible pants I've tried on. They make perfect travel/hiking pants since they're pretty compact and lightweight. The shorts are actually cute and I wear them even when I'm not traveling/hiking. The only complaint is that the pants are a tad long and a little too baggy for my taste, but I suppose I can't be that picky when it comes to convertibles. The pockets are awesome. I do wish that they had kept the small zippered pocket that I've seen on older versions.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
every other convertible pant out there doesn't fit well and looks awful as shorts. I don't want to look like i'm wearing smaller mens clothes. I want clothes that fit & flatter me. These are decent on as pants, capris and shorts, so they truly do let you pack 1 item instead of 3. The shorts are short enough to be cute by themselves - usually, the shorts on other convertibles are too long. LOVE that these come in petite.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
Great pants for just about everything! I'm only 5'1" at 105 lbs, so good pants are hard to come by. These pants were slightly too big and too long when they first arrived, but I just threw them in the wash on hot and then dried them and they fit great! Great with boots, making their length perfect. Finally, a pair of zip-offs that has shorts that are not capris! Am now ordering two more pairs.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
I needed pants that would work in any weather condition. I've worn these on light, rainy hikes and on sunny ones. They look great as shorts and as capris.
The pockets are deep and ample, and the zippers to convert the pants into shorts are color-coded so you know which one is left and right. They zip on very easily. I love how subtle the zipper is too, when they're worn as pants, they don't scream "convertible pants"! They come in great neutral colors that go with almost anything.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
I have always turned up my nose at convertible pants as I used to consider them ridiculous, but when I was forced to limit the weight in my backpack, I bought 3 pairs for my 5 month backpacking trip - 2 of which were different colours of this design, and the 3rd was a different brand. The North Face pants won by a huge margin in terms of style and versatility:
- more pockets (including hidden pockets - useful for some of my stops where pickpocketing was rife)
- it looked good in all of the 3 styles: shorts, capri and long trousers
- I have worn it for smart casual outings as well as for rough outdoor wear
- they packed up light and small
My biggest complaint is that due to the limited availability of attractive and comfortable convertible pants in the market - I met many other fellow travelers from the UK and Canada, wearing the exact same gear (both men and women!!!) North Face: Please expand your range of styles.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
These are the perfect hiking pants--super comfortable, convenient, durable, and they still look great after long days on the trail. They dry quickly, don't wrinkle, and dirt doesn't stick to them very well, so they would also be great for casual/ cultural travel. My husband thinks I look great in them (and I DON'T have a stellar shape), so that's a bonus!

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
I do a lot of hiking, camping, traveling, and rafting and I've always wanted to buy a pair of convertible pants, but could never find any that looked as good when you wore them as pants as they did as shorts. I love that these pants can be worn at 3 different lengths, and that they actually look good all 3 ways! I'm seriously considering buying a pair in each color!

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
I bought these pants to orginally wear for photography purposes in the outdoors. They are extremely comfortable and the material is very durable. They also dry fast, you can leave them on wet and they dry quickly.
I have these pants in asphalt grey and while traveling on the East Coast I had to unexpectedly attend a funeral viewing. I wore these with a pair of black keens, a light blue h-toad button down and a black leather jacket. So ladies, they work for funeral functions in a pinch.
I'm 5'2" and they were a bit long so I had to have them shortened. The biggest complaint is that the cargo pockets are way too small. I can barely fit a small man's wallet with a few cards and cash or even my hand in one of them. C'mon North Face, when I'm out in the elements I need functional pockets for GPS, small cameras, lens caps, etc. If I wanted fashion, I'd buy Prada. I've never seen a pair of mans' convertibles with useless pockets. I need function when I'm out in the field so unfortunately, these pants have been relegated to a more casual use.
So ladies, If you want functionality, look elsewhere.
I would recommend these to friends with a few reservations

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's Petite:
I got these pants to use when I go hiking with my family. I wanted to be able to take the legs on and off while hiking. I didn't even notice when buying the pants that there are no zippers by the ankles, so the first time I went out in them, I had my daughter in a backpack and was getting hot, and had to take off my pack to take off my hiking boots so I could convert the pants. What is the point of having convertable pants if you can't convert on the go? They are cute, but non-functional.
