The Marin Bolinas Ridge hardtail mountain bike combines durable construction and efficient, responsive handling for all-round performance in demanding conditions.

Hardtail frames deliver power directly to the drivetrain with little waste of energy in frame flex; the result is dependable, responsive handling
Plus, the aluminum frame's low weight is an major asset when powering up long climbs or lifting the bike on or off a cartop bike rack
Oversized fork legs provide a beefy 100mm of travel, taking the thump away when popping over logs or rolling off curbs
Double-walled construction helps rims remain true while bouncing over the toughest X-C trails
Shimano shifters and derailleurs shift smoothly through all 24 gears
Truvativ 42/32/22 crankset and Shimano 8-speed, 11/32 cassette jet you up and down mountainsides and across the flats
Kenda Koyote tires provide sure grip, whether you're crossing mud, climbing a dusty trail or running up a homemade ramp
WTB Speed V Sport saddle is contoured for all-day comfort and anatomic support

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. I bought this bike to use it for family rides and to share with friends when visiting me. wow, I end up using more than what I thought, it is a perfect bike to go on casual recreational rides and then you can also take it for some MTB too. It is the perfect bike for the price, this is my second Marin bike and I don't think I will buy anything else from now on, Marin makes solid bikes.

I was in the market for a hybrid bike, as I planned to use my new bike for 80/20 urban commuting/trail riding. After trying out hybrids, then entry level trek and cannondale hardtail models, I rode this bike at rei. My month-long debate was over my decision was easily made.
This bike is very comfortable, handles beautifully, and is SO MUCH FUN to ride! It is also a great looking, stylish ride. I've found myself on the trails than I anticipated and now, 2 mos. post purchase, I'm still loving it as a child delights in their 1st shiny new bike.
The only downside, however minor, is that the pedals are cheap and plastic.

Bought this bike for my wife, she absolutely loves it. We intended for only casual street riding, the lightweight frame made it easy for her to get out on the trails without having to work too hard. She's loving it so much she wants to get heavier into the sport! The components have held up great and have had no maintenance issues. Love the bike!

I test rode several bikes at several stores and the Marin Bolinas Ridge is by far the lightest and most comfortable. The shifting is super smooth and the light weight makes it easy to load on a roof rack.

I upgraded to this from a [...] bicycle. It's a real day and night difference in ride quality and handling. I plan to travel on the San Jose light rail with this too. The [...] bike was waaay too heavy to hang it up on the light rail.

Great components, light weight. Love the shocks and gearing for going up hills. Use also for trailing burley trailer and kids trailer behind. For the price well worth it. Was looking at the step lower, but glad I choose this one with high grade gearing.
