    I have worn North Face Paramount shorts for years and they have been great. I recently ordered 2 pair of Paramount shorts and there have been changes made that lessen the quality.
    1, The front side pockets are now made entirely of mesh material, which results in keys being caught in it. All my previous Paramount shorts had nylon material on one side and the bottom, and keys did not become snagged.
    2. The snap at the top of the fly comes loose often when the fly is opened and closed. The previous snap never came open. An inspection of the new snap reveals a lessor quality snap.
    3. There is excessive belt material left over after the buckle is adjusted and closed. Medium sized shorts.

    I am sure that these were probably cost savings changes, but quality is why I have purchased North Face in the past. Charge a little more if you have to, but please don't lessen the quality.

        I bought these shorts with some skepticism and was completely surprised. They fit well, are very durable, casual enough to wear on weekends and have the quality to go backpacking or hiking. They wash and wear well. I bought 2 pairs and am going to purchase 2 more. I can't say enough other than these are the PERFECT pair of do-anything shorts.

          Feels almost silly to write a review for a pair of shorts, but the fact is: these are great shorts. So felt complelled to share.

          I think North Face nailed everything with these. Excellent fit. Perfect length. Breathable, yet the fabric is very tough. I never really liked these types of outdoors shorts before I got these, because many of them seem too flimsy and yet I don't care for canvas/cargo shorts because they are hot and heavy. These are the pefect balance: light and breathable, yet durable. I am on the water a lot and they also dry very fast.

          And I agree with one of the other reviewers, you can wear these out and they look great. I am in them all Spring, Summer and Fall. I own two pair and plan on purchasing two more for the day when they do wear out...which I hope will be years from now.
