          I saw pevious comments and I had to tell what the practical use for this adapter is.
          So far I have only used this adapter when using an air compressor. I DO NOT keep these on my bike due to having to keep my presta's in an open position for functional use. I would be a good idea to keep 1 in your bike pack just in case you are running low on air and find yourself close to a gas station. It's much cheaper to spend a quarter for air than it is to tap a new CO2 cartrige.
          Also, what I have noticed is my friends have used these improperly in the past. They have put these on their valves without opening them first! They also keep them on their bikes, expecting the tires to hold air adequately.
          In short. These are a great option to pumping up your tires via a hand pump if you have access to a compressor.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

                I have found that when using these adapters its best not to screw them down tight onto the presta valve. Just snug it down barely enough so that it dosen't leak air. It may even feel loose on the presta but it will allow the standard air chuck operate the presta valve better.

                I keep my adapters (w/dust covers) attached to the presta valves all the time since I tend to only use an air comp to inflate my tires. Besides I would probably lose them otherwise.

                So when I need to air up, my sequence is this:

                1. Remove adapters and open presta valve all the way.
                2. Re-install adapter as described above.
                3. Inflate tire.
                4. Remove adapter and tightly close the presta valve.
                5. Reinstall valve adapter snugly with dust cap.

                Works for me with no problems. Hope this helps.

                I could not get this to work.

                I wanted to just buy the converter when I bought new road tires and thought that this was the answer. I was wrong. this piece of junk does not work and is in the junk drawer in my garage now.

                    If installed properly, these valve converters work well. I keep a set in my seat wedge for those times I need to use an air compressor or non-presta pump.

                    My tire gauge didn't work with them at all, but getting the high pressure road tires up to rideable range was easy enough to guesstimate with just my hand on the tire. I went on the looser side as not to blow the tube.

                    Another reason I keep these handy is to help other cyclists on the side of the road/trail.

                        This adaptor does the job. It allows me to pump my tire with my small emergency pump when I'm out on the hills. Use it exactly as was instructed by the previous person who commented on this item. Thanks for the detailed instructions!!!
