Comments about Prism Designs Snapshot 1.2 Power Foil Kite:

when i first got this foil, i had a hard time getting it up in the air, but that may have been attributed to low winds. it's easier to learn at lower winds from 12-15mph and a few tries. at 20+ mph, this thing is fast and furious - not to mention FUN. the materials are sturdy and the lines are attached with great attention and detail. as other reviewers mentioned, there isn't a frame to break and i've slammed it into the ground several times and had nothing to worry about. i also crashed it into the lake and had to pull it out, but a little shake, and it's airborn again. i ordered the 40' tail from the manufacturer for $6 and it's definitely an attention grabber and compliments the foil well. i've tried the 1.9 and it's big and slow. prism rates the 1.2 as their fastest of the snapshot series and they're not kidding. great toy!

Comments about Prism Designs Snapshot 1.2 Power Foil Kite:

This Kite is a lot of fun. It's got a decent pull for how big it is. I learned how to fly it pretty quick. About a 1-2 hour learning curve. The first hour can be tricking dealing with the lines and not tangling them up, but once you figure it out it's fine.

In regards to launching, it can be frustrating if your by yourself. The best advise is to bring something that you can use as a weight, to hold the kite down. Lay the weight on the back side of the kite so that when you run down the field and pull on the lines it catches right away in the wind, otherwise you're literally running back and forth 15 times trying to get the thing in the air.

Now that I've learned how to fly this thing, I want to get a bigger one with more pull. REI, you should carry the bigger one so I can buy it from you!

Comments about Prism Designs Snapshot 1.2 Power Foil Kite:

I was considering getting into power-kiting, but decided against it due to its complexity and cost (typically $300 - $1,000 a kite).
Then my wife got me this little training power-kite as a gift. I am very impressed. It was easy to use, fast and fun. I take it almost everywhere I go, just in case there happens to be a breeze on my lunch break. Although it mentions a wind scale of 6-25 mph, I have gotten it off the ground with less. At some point I may have to rethink getting one of the bigger kites because of how much fun this kite is to fly.

Comments about Prism Designs Snapshot 1.2 Power Foil Kite:

I carry my snapshot everywhere I go. It is compact enough to not take up much space, leaving room for anything else I may have with me. It flies great in lower level winds, and gets perkier with high (but still controllable) speeds when the wind picks up. This power foil is great for anyone who likes doing airborne tricks withough the worry of breaking something when they crash. I really enjoy flying my Snapshot 1.2

Comments about Prism Designs Snapshot 1.2 Power Foil Kite:

As the others have said, there is no frame to break on a crash landing. It also is much easier to get back up in the air after a crash.

Personally, I used two color-coded reels from another stunt kite I had (not a Prism) which worked better for me than the dual 80' lines wound together on one winder that Prism uses for all their power and stunt kites.

Comments about Prism Designs Snapshot 1.2 Power Foil Kite:

I picked this up as something fun to throw in the surf pack for those days when the surf gets blown out by wind, which never happened when I remembered to take it. I tossed it in the pack for a recent camping, fly fishing, mountain biking weekend. The wind kicked up too much for most of us to fish, so I hiked a little to a hill where there was a good steady wind. Some friends brought their kids (4-6yrs) and we had a blast. The kite doesn't have a "frame", so it was happy to take the repeated abuse of kid-flying crashes and can still provide decent pull and perform tricks. Everyone was shocked at how small it packs up too. If you want one all-around kite, this is it.

Comments about Prism Designs Snapshot 1.2 Power Foil Kite:

Great kite for having fun, but powerfoils aren't like anything else you're used to. These things pull and can pull hard (the bigger one's are used in kiteboarding). Once you get used to it, it's great how you can fly this thing. Bonus: There is no frame to break. It's all just a fabric wing that fills with air.

Comments about Prism Designs Snapshot 1.2 Power Foil Kite:

This is not a kite you can just stand there and hold idly. It doesn't just cruise and stay level on its own. You really have to be watching it all the time, but when you do, you can steer, glide, swoop and dive it with precise control. Its a different experience and probably better in short sessions. I really enjoy my snapshot and feel like its a step up from traditional kites. I also like its portable size, the quality, and how it doesn't look lame like every other "stunt kite" I've ever seen.
