Great for hiking and traveling, these REI Sahara pants offer convertible coverage for changing weather—one pair provides both pants and shorts.

  • New design features flatter pockets front and back than in past seasons, providing a more flattering fit
  • Lightweight nylon fabric is durable and quick-drying; fabric offers a UPF rating of 50+, providing excellent skin protection from UV damage
  • Legs zip off above knees, providing 7 in. inseam shorts for warmer weather
  • Articulated knees and gusseted crotch create ease for long-striding comfort; eyelets offer drainage in wet situations
  • Pockets aplenty! Features front and back pockets, and cargo pockets with rip-and-stick closures
  • Zippered pocket inside right front pocket holds credit card, cash and house key; left thigh zippered pocket holds other items you can't afford to lose
  • Rear pockets have grommet holes for drainage and improved ventilation
  • Back-elastic waist with zip fly and snap closure has a webbing belt for adjustable fit

          These are nice pants that are easy to move and sit in. Lots of great pockets. Legs zip to shorts easily, and even better, zip back on easily and I am zipper-challenged. Petite inseam for a size 8 is probably about 27-28 so if you are short but long-legged they may be too short for you. If you are a true petite or don't want your hiking pants dragging in the mud, they should fit perfectly.

            These pants are great for traveling. I have worn them cycling when I needed sun protection on my legs. The legs fasten at the bottom to keep them out of the chain. And they are such a great fit for petites. It's wonderful to have the removable lower portion and have the pant legs the right length.

              It's hard to find pants that won't gap on my hour glass figure! These fit perfectly!! I have tried others on in local outdoor stores and was so disappointed. I thought I would give one more try and I'm glad I did...you will be too!

              Dry quickly, keeps the bugs off when they are pants & perfect shorts for those hotter days!!

                These convertible pants are so versatile. Just returned from a trip with temperature extremes of 32 degrees to 109 degrees. From pants to shorts in an instant. Kept me cool and then warm when it was cool and windy. Very comfortable. Allowed a good range of motion for hiking and climbing a 100 foot rock face. Also very comfortable on the airplane. Doesn't take much room in the luggage and easy to wash out, dries quickly. Never travel without them.

                  I bought a pair early July '08 for a 2 wk trip to Long Island. The fit was comfortable for the flight. The pockets are great for needed items at airport while checking in car seat, wearing backpack carry-on and keeping one hand to hold my child. Pants in CA for a 9pm flight, arrive in hot humid East Coast in shorts, never needing to get out of my seat. Loved it! Once home, they were comfortable for canoing. Generally I wear shorts so I thought it would be nice to have the option in the cool morning fog, but the pants were so comfortable I didn't convert to shorts for the day. They didn't heat up at the sun's peak.

                    I bought a pair of these recently for hiking in the rainy Seattle winter and I absolutely love them. Although the legs are pretty baggy (which is actually good when you're wearing them as shorts, which are just the right length), everything else fits great. As for where they hit at the waist, I'm 5'4" and long-waisted and they sit about 3/4 inch below my belly button, which I think is low enough to be kind of stylish but high enough to still be functional as outdoor clothing. I'll definitely be getting another pair when they go on sale again.

                      Bought these for a long, busy trip to San Francisco, they were warm for the 5:00 am start, comfortable for the 4 hour bus ride, then easy to turn into shorts for Alcatraz tour, then back into pants for boat ride back (cold and windy) and the rest of the night on the pier. Nice also for riding in the AM when chilly and then able to change into shorts for the warm afternoon ride home .
                      Love that fit my short legs, the length is perfect.
