Comments about REI Luggage Tag:
Airport luggage moving equipment seems to be designed to destroy luggage tags. These look like they will last forever. The only thing about them I didn't like was that the UPC tag (the bar code) was glued to the window rather than on the back! I had to scrape them off, then use Pledge furniture wax to finish removing them. I don't know why Pledge works for this, but it does.

Comments about REI Luggage Tag:
I wanted some new luggage tags as my previous ones had been destroyed by frequent airport usage. The previous review had suggested how rugged these were so I bought two. They are indeed tough looking and have a strong metallic loop to attach them to your gear. However I have found upon delivery that they are surprisingly heavy. The stated 1.6 oz didn't sound like a lot but it's about the same as 8 quarters, imagine having those in your pocket. I certainly wouldn't want to have to carry these around with me on a hike when I'm carrying enough stuff already. I have no doubt that equally rugged but lighter and less expensive luggage tags can be found elsewhere.

Comments about REI Luggage Tag:
I've used these ID tags on a number of things besides luggage: my expensive raincoat, my camera bag, etc. Over time I have had two or three of them come unscrewed and fall off, which leaves me feeling that I can not trust them, so I stopped using them.

Comments about REI Luggage Tag:
These luggage tags are simply the best ones I've ever found (and we've been through a lot of luggage tag failures). If you attach them as shown in the photo (that is . . . be sure to thread it through the wire guide as shown when attaching to your luggage) they'll withstand the worst of airline handling because there's no "loop" to get caught on anything that way. They are VERY durable and strong. Unlike the writer who complained about their weight, I don't find their weight an issue or problem at all. (They're not any heavier than the expensive brand name leather ones available.) Their durability outweighs any complaint. We have used them on lengthy overseas travel and varied domestic trips. They are outstanding. We highly reccommend them.
