Comments about Midland WR-300 Weather Radio:

This is an excellent all-hazards radio. I purchased it a couple years ago to use in a difficult reception area and it work great even without an outside antenna. I have used several S.A.M.E. radios and this is the best one. Good enough I purchased one for my office and also several as gifts. Only caution is to follow the directions in detail when programming the codes, it can get somewhat complex but once programmed works GREAT. Every home and office should have one of these.

Comments about Midland WR-300 Weather Radio:

My initial impression is that this is a great Weather Radio, Good reception, Sound is clear, pretty easy to setup.

The reason I gave it a 1-star rating? There is a deficiency in the programming of the unit: TORNADO WARNING is not programmed from the factory! You can easily ADD it - fortunately they allow you to add codes and you can easily look it up on NOAA website. So the radio's great but it's CRITICAL that you know about that error.

Comments about Midland WR-300 Weather Radio:

I wanted a weather alert radio that incorporated S.A.M.E. I also wanted one with battery backup and AM/FM. I set up the radio and programmed my county code into my WR-300 the day before a massive storm system hit. Instead of hearing all alerts broadcast, I only heard those specific to my county-- a real plus in the middle of the night. And, reception in the basement was fine while we rode out the tornado warning. The display of the alert expiration time is also useful. If you purchase this radio, read the directions and use long lasting lithium batteries.
