Comments about Jetboil Backcountry Gourmet Cooking System:
This set seems like a good deal. but the stove is the value. I'll be returning this set and purchassing the stove by itself - one with a working piezo.
Pros 1)The stove is easy to setup and boils water fast. I ended up boiling water for several people at each meal when their alcohol stoves took too long or they were still setting up another stove and I was already boiling. 2)The fuel canisters are good for at least 10 liters - that's at least 20 meals.
Cons 1) I tried to use the spatula and pan to make pancakes. The pancakes stuck and the spatula melted. 2) The piezo only worked once when I was testing the stove at home. I used matches after that - NBD, but for this price the thing should work right.

Comments about Jetboil Backcountry Gourmet Cooking System:
The Jetboil system worked great at 12,000 ft. The unit ignited on the first try every time. The compact design works great. My drinks and meals were ready within minutes while other hikers were still trying to get their water boiling.
As for the utensils and frying pan, that is another story. The compact design of the system as well as the collapsible utensils are what initially attracted me to the gourmet system. The frying pan appears to be non-stick, but pancakes stuck, and while attempting to flip them the spatula started to melt. The fork and spoon did not lock in place as they were supposed to and kept slipping out of the locked position.
The base and support work well and kept the system stable.
All in all I am very happy with the Jetboil system, just not the utensils and pan.

Comments about Jetboil Backcountry Gourmet Cooking System:
The stove itself is great, the cup\stove system works great and boils water in an instant. The pan however stinks. It looks like its a coated nonstick pan but it is NOT. Made a dozen pancakes this morning and I had to sacrifice the first half and finally realized how to make them. The pan sticks, it is VERY difficult to grab em and flip em. Frying would probably be better with this rather than using it as a griddle.
I'll try eggs tomorrow morning and maybe fish tonight and see how that works out.
The spatula is useless after just one use.
you have to hit the igniter quite a few times until it lights, by this point there is so much gas around you end up getting a small fireball so don't peak in to see whats wrong...trust me, I had eyebrows this morning!

Comments about Jetboil Backcountry Gourmet Cooking System:
Replaced my MSR Reactor after to much abuse. Although similar in many ways, I couldn't find any other pots and pans to use with the Reactor so at the advice of an Rei expert I decided to switch to Jetboil the reason, my kids are getting old enough to start camping and backpacking. Once you're familiar with the system and mix and match what you need to take with you can become an outdoor Chef. 2 cups of water boil in less than a minute so you can pack Ramen noodles for the kids and not to mention you can use the pan to fry eggs and bacon in a pinch with those finicky little eaters.Only complaint is price but thats due to minamilist approach of the product and everything you get with it.

Comments about Jetboil Backcountry Gourmet Cooking System:
This is it...when backpacking I love to bring in fresh food for the first night (some steak, some chicken, etc...) and work with a dehydrated menu for the rest of the trip. This is just what the doctor ordered.
The pan can be a bit touchy as far as heat control, but has cooked a butterflied filet beautifully with a little practice (the trail isn't where I like to try anything for the first time...)
The cup will boil water faster than you can open the dehydrated pouch...and then it all packs together and happens to fit perfectly in a side compartment on my pack. I couldnt ask for a better fit!
In addition to the cup, the pan, and the stove, Jetboil includes the fork, spoon, and the spatula (a bit flimsy, so i don't use them) as well as the pot support and canister stabilizer that make it sturdy enough to cook with coinfidence even in strong winds.
Overall, if you are looking for a cooking system that gets the cooking done with minimal effort and time, don't think twice, add it to your cart!

I just used my Jetboil Backcountry Gourmet Cooking System.
Took it to work and made Chi Chi in the JB cup and hot links in the fry pan.
The system works GREAT can’t wait to take it backpacking!!
The wind was blowing good and steady it didn't
matter at all.The fry pan works well at low to med heat this will be a fuel saver. If you pick the fying pan up off the stove you will have on problem with the support stand.
Some say having to dispose of the canister is a con. that just a fact of life, all fuel cans have to be disposed. The spoon & fork and spatula work great. All I need is the Coffee press and I am good to go.

Use the Jetboil quite a bit, but the pan set up is pretty flimsy. The utensils are similarly flimsy. Basically all of the Jetboil items work great, but this one is a miss.

Comments about Jetboil Backcountry Gourmet Cooking System:
An extremely powerful and easy to use stove. It takes about 15 seconds to set up and about a minute to boil frigid lake water. The most comforting feature of this stove is the interlocking design which adds stability and contributes to ease of use.
The utensils and pan are great accessories, all very easy to clean and worked exactly as they were supposed to. I think I am going to buy more jet boil accessories before my next trip.

The friendly staff at the REI in Milwaukee, WI discussed their various cooking products with me. They shared their experience with the Jet Boil. The Jet Boil's quality was compelling in the store and proved an excellent product on the camping and hiking trials.
