Comments about Suunto Core Multifunction Watch - Steel:
Before the Core came along the Observer (All made in Finland) was probably Suunto's standard bearer watch. However, due to their heavy advertising and public anticipation Suunto was able to make almost everyone forget that the Observer was still around and that it was being made in Finland. The Core on the other hand is made in china and simply touching makes you realize it. Their base versions of[$]feels incredibly cheap. This steel version is more expensive than the most expensive Suunto Observer which had titanium construction for both bezel and band and it was still made in Finland. I just don't understand how Suunto justifies the price of a steel watch which uses lower quality materials and made in a third world country compared to their top of the line Titanium Observer. NO EXCUSE.

Comments about Suunto Core Multifunction Watch - Steel:
This is one well built, great looking, very functional watch. It is built like a tank. The watchband is very beautiful too. The whole watch is well designed but is heavy due to its stainless steel construction. The mineral glass face is a real plus. You can easily switch the watchband to any other Suunto Core watchband. The rotating bezel is rugged and does not rattle. The positive display is very easy to read. The best positive dispay of any watch I've owned. The functions of the watch are very accurate. I especially like the sunrise/sunset data and the altitude/barometer auto mode which switches between these modes depending on altitude changes. The Suunto Cores are my favorite watches.

Comments about Suunto Core Multifunction Watch - Steel:
Let me preface this review by saying I am a gadget nerd. I am a sucker for any shiny gizmo that beeps. Needless to say this watch had my name all over it. The stainless steel construction is solid (read heavy). The band was easy to adjust with only a paperclip and a pair of needle-nose pliers. You won't ever forget you are wearing this watch due to it's considerable size and weight. The display is easy to read, and the back light is bright. The back light will flicker slightly when in compass mode. The ABC functions are the best out there. The barometric has been very accurate and makes the storm alarm function an asset instead of an annoyance. The compass will need to be reset from time to time, but is easily done by rotating the watch three times. I have yet to extensively test the altimeter, but it does track the small elevation changes I have seen while driving. One of my favorite functions is the sunrise/sunset feature. This is great for climbing trips where getting benighted is not an option. So if you wrist can handle it, I highly recommend this watch.

Comments about Suunto Core Multifunction Watch - Steel:
I love the style, and aesthetics. Unfortunately, that's all I like about this watch. I have owned Suunto watches for the past 8 years. This particular watch is very poor build quality. You could buy a comparable watch at a flee market or in Mexico. No dud here, in one year I have replaced this watch 4 times from REI. Next time I will replace with another product.
Hope this helps

Comments about Suunto Core Multifunction Watch - Steel:
I have already been through 2 of these watches. The band is very cheap with a rubber substance holding to together. Every one of these bands will eventually break.
