After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. I bought this bike for my now 7yr old, and with the seat all the way down its a perfect fit, lots of room to grow, and the splash guards are perfect for the girly tom boy!

I bought this bike for my 7yr old and she road it till she was 9. We removed the splash guards. My daughter thought they looked stupid. This was her second REI bike. The first one held up much better then this one. The crank on this bike made a rattle sound when she peddled, that the REI tech couldn't seem to fix. The finish on the cranks didn't hold up and it seemed like the chrome on the handle bars rusted easily. The rims and the frame paint held up well. After out growing this bike I purchased her a Trek 220 and she loves it.
