It looks tough and it's built tough, but riding it is simple! Junior riders will love the lightweight aluminum frame and sweet Shimano components.

Nimble aluminum frame is easy to manage and the SR M-2025 suspension fork soaks up the bumps for solid control and reduced arm fatigue
Shimano components, six speeds and twist shifters offer plenty of choices for hill climbing or flat-land speed
Tektro linear pull brakes provide fast and reliable stopping power
Wellgo platform pedals are durable and lugged to grip the rider's shoes
All-terrain traction tires are mounted on sturdy rims for excellent performance on and off the road
Rear moto-style fender and front down tube deflector help to keep your kid somewhat clean and protected from flying mud!

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. This bike is perfect for my nine-year-old. He has worn out two previous lesser bikes. The shifting and brakes on this Novara work seemlessly and the front shocks have inspired a lot of confidence on the trails. The fenders are an absolute must for trails and Western Washington. I whole-heartedly recommend this bike.

I bought this for my 6 year old who will soon be 7. he's been off traing wheels for about 3 months now. my wife was concerned about how big it was, but 20" bikes are about as small as they get with gears and thats what he needed. he took to it in less than a day and is shifting like a pro going up hills and down. he loves it. [...]and even so it still seems well built.
