Long favored by performance riders for its high quality and low price, Novara Strada now features lightweight Aprebic EVO carbon fiber seatstays!

  • Strada is your all-around sport ride, fast enough for fitness training and racing, yet comfortable and stable for touring rides over mountain passes
  • Together, the 6061 aluminum and carbon fiber provide the stiffness required for quick acceleration and efficient energy transfer in climbs
  • Carbon fiber also damps road vibrations, increasing comfort and reducing fatigue over long, hard rides
  • Aprebic EVO front fork provides the lateral wheel stability required for sprinting and cutting razor sharp lines in turns
  • Lightweight Shimano R500 rims and hubs reduce rotational inertia, a key benefit when quick acceleration is in your immediate future
  • Shimano 105 shifter/brake levers allow fast shifting and braking control without the need to remove hands from handlebars—great for brisk rides
  • Shimano 105 10-cog cassette and forward triple chainring provide quick, crisp shifts and gearing to tackle any terrain
  • Two-piece crankset with integrated cups weighs less and is more easily maintained than conventional cranksets
  • Vittoria Zaffiro Pro tires offer a good mix of durability, grippiness and fast performance
  • Comfortable, smooth-steering cockpit includes Ritchey Biomax OE handlebar and stem and integrated semi-cartridge headset
  • Streamlined, lightweight San Marco Ponza Lux saddle is contoured and lightly padded for long training rides
  • Pedals not included
  • Specs are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2008:

I bought this bike on an impulse when I found out my Trek would be off to the factory for repair for a month or so. I needed a second bike anyway, and didn't see the harm in getting a decent one. After my eyes glazed over from internet research, I remembered that REI sold bikes, and headed over. This model was exactly what I needed. The Aluminum frame is light but sturdy. The geometry fits me well. And Shimano 105 components feel really nice. I've had it for a week and already have 75 miles on it. It's a great machine, and at the price it can't be passed up.

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2008:

The 2008 Strada is a great value and a great ride. When shopping I couldn't find a better all around value when considering construction/components & price. After hundreds of miles on the bike I am a very happy camper, it rides and climbs great and is comfortable for rides of 50 miles plus. I found the stock saddle a little firm for my taste and replaced it with more padded model. All things considered, a great bike at a great price.

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2008:

As a cyclist wanting a solid bike with solid components and even a few extras, but without copious funds to drop into a bike purchase, the Novara Strada is a perfect find. I've been riding my 2007 Strada for the last year, and I have been more than pleased with it. You get a comfortable ride (the carbon fork and seat-stays dampen road vibration well), components that you find on bikes 3 times the price,[...] This is an affordable bike that works well for folks interested in casual riding or racing. Highly recommended ...

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2008:

I got my first Strada in 2002. Last year we got another two for my teenage sons. Never had any problems with it. Good 105 bike. Not fancy, but reliable and not too expensive. I put about 10K miles on my 2002. The only problem I have are spokes in the back wheel that break from time to time. As per new 2007 Stradas I wished [...] wouldn't compromise and put all the components 105 (just like on my 2002). Now they put more and more lower level components, e.g., Tiagra brakes.

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2008:

This bike is a joy to ride. The Strada offers A very comfortable ride and absorbs road shock very well. I find I don't want to get off the bike, just want to keep riding. If your looking for a bike to ride your first century with this is it. The only negative I found was the tires. The specs and discreption state Ruffino Pro tires but the tires on this bike were base Vittoria Ruffino tires. Bulky and much heavier than the Pro tires and should not have been put on a bike of this quality. [...] Get rid of the heavy tires and you got yourself a great bike for tours and club rides at a great price.

Comments about Novara Strada Bike - 2008:

I'm a novice but avid cyclist (3-4 days a week). I looked at a ton of bikes in the 1400 - 1800 range and this came out on top. You won't find the same setup on any bike for the price you'll get this. While it's not top of the line, it's very nice quality. I would recommend this bike any day of the week.

carbon front/rear forks, carbon seat stay and handlebars, R500 Shimano rims, Shimano 105 gears/brakes all the way through.

For the price point this bike will ride better than bikes for $400 more. It's nothing to be ashamed of this bike rocks!
