The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about STABILicers Lite Traction Devices:
Needed to get something in the Park on an unplanned trip to Yosemite to manage the icy footpaths in the valley. These fit the bill very well. They were easy to put on and take off and provided very secure and stable footing.
Were recommended by shop staff (not REI) as being more durable than the Yaktrax Walkers citing the fact that the wire traction coils on the Yaktrax tended to cut through the rubber straps.
For the long haul and regular use I think the Regular STABILicers would be much more durable; it's also what I noted the Park workers were using.

Comments about STABILicers Lite Traction Devices:
I used Yaktrax last year, a fairly icy winter here in Minneapolis, and they were definitely better than plain boots. But I still slid on icy patches more than I was comfortable with, and they were flat-out dangerous indoors (where you usually are when putting on or removing them). This fall I picked up the Stabilicers at REI. I tried them out after our Christmas Eve and Day snow/rainfall - the icy road ruts and frozen footprints on the sidewalks are terribly treacherous. But the Stabilicers are wonderful! I've been walking a mile every day around my neighborhood, and would have had to quit without them. For walking or running in snow and ice, I don't think you can go wrong with this product - I'm planning to give them as gifts.

Comments about STABILicers Lite Traction Devices:
I was disappointed with this product. After using Yaktrax, which broke during my first use, an REI employee recommended these as the "upgrade."
On the plus side, they provide excellent traction on steep sections and are relatively easy to put on (under certain conditions). On the negative side, they fall of frequently. Although I used the sizing chart on the package, in a 40 minute period, mine and my friends STABILicers fell off twice.
I believe the issue is the slope of the terrain you are following. Going up hill the back tread tends to slip off to the side, which loosens the overall connection of the STABILicers' to the boot. Going down hill, the front catch of the STABILicers slips off the toe the boot which and the whole thing just gets left behind.
In a warm car they are easy to put on, but on a cold trail with no place to sit and with frozen hands...it's quite a miserable experience.
I recommend these only for walking around the neighborhood on icy days and not for hiking over any kind of change in elevation.

Comments about STABILicers Lite Traction Devices:
I am a park naturalist in Colorado. During any winter month trail conditions can vary from dry to slush to snow to glare ice. Stable Icers are not crampons, but provide great traction on ice and snow, over flat ground and on steep trails. They are comfortable on muddy or dry trails, but not on dry sidewalks. I have not had any trouble with them coming off. They are much easier to put on when sitting. I plan to beef-up the instep bands with duct tape to prevent abrasion.

Comments about STABILicers Lite Traction Devices:
For the price, you can't complain too much about this product. While they did keep me from slipping on the ice while walking my child to school they have a tendency to fall off without you even realizing they came off. I did get the recommended size. This happened to me at least 3 times in a 2 month period. I walk back and forth to the school twice a day, five days a week. The walk itself about a mile or so round trip. They worked better than yaktrax, I slid around with those on. They do wear down after a while which is expected, but continued to work. These have saved not only my butt from falling but they helped me keep my kid from falling on the ice (held onto her). If you don't have a lot of money, I do recommend these. If you have more to spare, get something that won't slip off.

Comments about STABILicers Lite Traction Devices:
These are EXCELLENT for most light duty uses. They fit securely over my three different winter boots (varying from light slip-ons to -40 degree pac boots). They provide EXCELLENT grip on the driveway, sidewalks, or icy road surfaces when I'm shoveling, snow blowing, or walking the dog.BUT... I would not take these on any sort of technical hiking or back country trip, unless I had snow shoes too, or unless the trail conditions were mild. That said, for some trips the perfect setup would be 1) good boots 2) gaiters 3) snowshoes 4) these things. With that kit I think you'd be fairly well set. They are nice and lightweight, and show no signs of wear after 20+ wearings over 5 years. I do expect the rubber body will degrade at some point, but for [$] how can you go wrong?Compared to others out there -- the ones that form an X across the bottom for instance -- these are much more functional.Tip: It is possible to have them fall off and not realize it until you've left them far behind. To remedy this problem, I have a simple velcro strap that goes around the middle of my foot, or I wear gaiters that go around the sole.

Comments about STABILicers Lite Traction Devices:
These are a little more heavy duty than the Yak Trax. They're easy to put on and they grip really well. I had a problem with them slipping off every now and then, even though they were matched well with the size of my shoes. Then I made the mistake of wearing them in deep snow and I ended up losing them completely. They could be improved if they had a larger overlapping lip to cover more of your toes and heels.

Comments about STABILicers Lite Traction Devices:
I just got back from my first trail run using these and I LOVE them. My husband has used them at work and bought them for me so that I have more options in the snow. I went for a 2 hour run in mud, ice, & primarily packed snow up and down hills. They never slipped on my shoes and I after the first few steps didn't even feel them. Not sure how they are on pavement but thought they were great off road. I wear a 8.5 women's shoe and used the size 8-10 Stabilicers.

Comments about STABILicers Lite Traction Devices:
My wife and I used the STABILicers Lite on a recent summit of Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire. We hiked in early March when the entire trail was still covered in snow and ice. While the STABILicers gripped the snow and ice well, they repeatedly slipped off during the steeper sections of the trail. Despite being the right size and tension, the ground seemed to catch the toe and pull these off. I would recommend them only for use on flat surfaces.

Comments about STABILicers Lite Traction Devices:
These are made out of a material that is impregnated with a strong peppermint scent, like some rubbery dog toys. I would not have ordered them if I had known that.
