I do a lot of kayaking and having the high/low tide is a great advantage. I don't have to go looking for a tide chart anymore. The compass is also very nice and setting the declination was very easy. Setting the tide was also very easy. The watch also looks great and is easy to read - in daylight.
The biggest downside on the watch is that the indiglo is not good at all. It is actually easier to see the watch without the indiglo on. No way to really see the compass in the dark or see the temp unless you look really, really hard. The indiglo just lights up a small circle, not the entire face as I expected. Maybe the one with the white face does...

When all is said and done, this is a great watch. The functions on the watch (temp, tide, compass) do very well and I look forward to using the tide function this coming summer when I kayak. Because the construction is Stainless steel, it was a little heavier than I am used to. My previous watch was a 90's Timex Iorn Man made out of plastic...however it only took me a day or so to get used to this change. If your willing to spend more money (like double!) the Suunto watches are much lighter (resin constructed) and have similar functions.

Timex did a fabulous job making it user friendly. It really is a breeze setting everything. Just a heads up...as with any wrist watch, to get an accurate temperature it will need to be separated from your body for 15 minutes to equilibrate to the environments temperature.

Like I said earlier, this is a great watch...and much more attractive than the posted photo.

I was wearing it when taking off a backpack and the shoulder strap on the back pack, snagged on the watch and ended up pulling off the main time-set knob! Never found the piece it pulled off. But for a watch that is supposed to be 100 meter water resistant I don't think that is supposed to happen. Also, as a result, the watch has stopped and is waiting for me to push the knob back in ;-). Anyway, the features are great otherwise... loved the compass. I'm sending it in for an exchange...

This is a pretty good looking watch, and pretty comfortable to wear considering it weighs a ton. This watch was initially chosen for its tides and compass function for boating/kayaking. That's about all the good I can say for it. Now the bad:
The indiglow light is very weak/dim and is not enouhg to see functions well in the dark.
The compass requires you to hold the watch very level, otherwise will give faulty readings. You have to take several readings and pick thru the results to interpret north direction, which leaves it a bit hard to trust.
My biggest complaint is that the buttons are easily snagged on clothing, etc and are damaged easily. I bent one button and pulled the main time/set button clean off while just putting my arm thru a sleeve (I think); I didn't even notice it happen so it must not have taken too much force. It lasted less than two weeks.

This watch looks great and function nicely. You have to however calibrate it each time before serious use (which is kind of a good idea anyway). The indiglo feature is horrible you cant see anything in the dark with it. The hands move very nicely when switching between each function. Over all its worth the [$]

I have gone through two of these and both have had problems. My first one the backlight didn't work so I took to a jeweler to have the battery replaced. When I got it back the backlight still didn't work and the compass stopped working. My second one was great for the first week, and then the compass stopped work. Now it only points to the 6 o'clock position no matter how I rotate it.

Watch looks good on the wrist. I have had it for about a year now and I have fully explored all its pros and cons. The tide feature works and works well. It served my great on a trip to Maine. The Temp only works if its off the body and then you can get a close reading. The compass has never worked correctly. I have calibrated it many times and it never was to my satisfaction. The backlight failed a few months after I got it. The watch is still running. It keeps good time and has held up against some abuse.

Love this Watch! I've had other watches from popular companies, and none have performed as well as this one has. For me, the heavier something is the more durable and reliable it is, and this thing does have the weight. But it isn't something that you noticed once on your wrist. I've read other reviews on this watch about having difficulty with the directions on set up and it's use, and seriously, they're not difficult, just read slowly and you've got it! Total accuracy is something you may not find on this watch, in reguards to the compass and temperature, but is there really a watch that is spot on? I compared the compass to other compasses I have, and the watch was off, it may need to be recaliberated again(which is easy). I'm not exactly sure how durable the buttons are, nothing has happend yet, but I'm pretty careful with them. And like all metal watches that are painted black, the casing can still get scratched and the silvery casing can be seen if scratched. I love the way it looks and performs. It's not overwhelming on any level, even though it may appear that way. Great Watch though!
