Comments about Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
All I need for backpacking is a water boiler and this stove does that very well. I love the push button convenience. I keep telling myself that I need to switch to a little alcohol stove to save a few ounces but I really don't want the hassle.
I used my stove about 35 days last season and had no trouble with it. It works in wind, rain, cold, and altitude. It will work with fuel from other vendors if necessary.
I have noticed a few minor issues.
Sometimes the igniter button requires more force than it should.
The stabilizer kit should come standard. The stove is not safe without it.
Removing the lid can be a bit dangerous.

Comments about Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I was initially feeling sticker shock with this purchase, but I treated myself to this purchase with my REI divided check 3 years ago. Ever since, this stove has been on every adventure and never leaves my vehicle. I cook with it, I heat water for warm drinks, and frequently make use of dehydrated meals for the ultimate travel convenience. I can't tell you how nice it is to have a nice warm drink or a cup of hot noodle soup after an early morning sunrise photos. The cup/cozy itself feels great on my cold hands, but the warmth in the body is pure luxury.
The Jetboil perfect alone just for emergencies backed in the car, but you will find it never gets packed away. too useful to put away.
The craftsmanship of this product is amazing, every component stacks, swivels, collapses to fit within the cup for storage. There is attention to every detail from the Jetboil unit (measuring cup, insulating cozy, molded cover that allows sipping, and even to the accessories. The stove heats water so fast it seems to drastically reduce the amount of fuel it consumes.
Although I don't recommend being clumsy, I have accidentally toppled this stove over. Thankfully I didn't get burned, but even better I didn't start a fire. The frame around the heating coil prevented the frames from any direct contact. I seriously recommend the three legged stand which can be packed right into the cup as well for added support, this would have been good to use on this occasion.
Jetboil thought of everything and then some.

Comments about Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
One of the fastest ways for the soloist hiker to boil water, this stove will get 2 cups of water to a rolling boil in less than 2 minutes. I've found that other stoves take about twice this long. Stove and fuel packs nicely into the cup during transport. The bottom cover cup can also be used as a measuring cup. Make sure you dry the cup out when you're done. Any moisture left in the cup can start to corrode the bottom of the fuel cannister, leaving a ring of rust in the bottom of the cup.

Comments about Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I really want to like this stove more than I do. I give it a 4 star rating because every time it has failed me, there has been something that isn't entirely JetBoil's fault.
The first time it failed on me, I was sailing on a cold fall day (40 degrees, 20+ kts of wind and wet on deck) on a boat whose main propane system was out of commission. The stove refused to light. I learned later that the gap in the piezo ignitor was too big. By bending it down, I was able to get a stronger spark and make the lighting more consistent. This didn't help me at the time though. I tried using a butane grill ignitor, but the flame was too small to get the stove lit.
The second time was a winter hike that ended up being a good deal colder than expected. Despite the "4 season" claim on the fuel, it utterly refused to light. Admittedly it was about 0F, which is probably too cold for any liquefied gas stove, but I had kept the brand new fuel bottle inside my jacket, so I was disappointed. Fortunately it was only a day hike, so there were no really unpleasant consequences.
Basically, I think this system is great in mild weather. Any time I have tried to use it at a time when a really hot drink is needed, it has failed to light for one reason or another. I don't hold this completely against the stove since the conditions were poor, but I wouldn't trust this system in bad weather. That said, within its limitations, it is an innovative system that is very packable. I would recommend it to a friend, but only with the reservations above.

This was awesome on a 4 day trip into the Sawtooth mountains. Everyone else had brought canisters to boil water in and such and we ended up just using this instead.
I would recommend the stabilizer feet though. Hard to balance on anything without them.
DON'T PUT ANYTHING IN THE CUP BUT WATER. Don't try to cook in the cup. The smell and taste just won't come out.

This system is a dream to use. Simple and fast. Boils 2 cups in <1.5 min (<1000' elev.) Very versatile system. Very compact, can be stored in the same space or pouch as a 1L Nalgene bottle. Fuel cell seems to last well beyond stated estimates!!
Have not had any issues with the ignition system as others. TIP!!-Keep the cardboard tube that comes with the packaging to keep in place over the ignighter when packed & stowed, this will help protect the ignighter which I expect has been damaged in transit for other folks as the stove parts can shift around when stored inside the pot. If you transport the fuel cell inside the pot in transit be sure to put it in the bottom and the burner assembly in after. Shorten the cardboard tube accordingly and the ignighter will be protected and the parts held securely inside the pot for transport.

Boils water fast! I like to keep my meals simple and clean, so most of the time it is freeze dried and instant meals. My wife and I went camping and found that 1L of water to be quite adequate for 1 freeze dried meal (2 serving) and a hot beverage (for each of us). The first day of use the piezo lighter gave up on me, which was disappointing, but a minor setback considering how efficient it works. Then after coming home, I checked the Jetboil’s FAQ and found that if you bend the piezo wire closer to the burner it should fix the problem. Works perfectly now!

Add the coffee press accessory to this and you have a great coffee maker.
Friday nights I will pull into the parking lot of my local high school football team and in about 8 minutes have a thermos full of fresh made coffee to enjoy with the game.

Comments about Jetboil Personal Cooking System:
I absolutely love this stove. It is lightweight, I can pack all components into the cup for solo/minimal trips (even the fuel cannister), and is very easy to use. It works well at high altitude. Every time I go camping with someone, they always end up buying this stove after the trip because they like it so much. My only issue with it is that it only boils 2 cups of water with each use, so for more than 2 people, we usually have to boil a few batches of water...but this really isn't a big deal because it boils water so fast! The larger pot that goes with it works well to cook food like soup, seems to heat pretty evenly. Am looking at buying the pan to go along with the stove so we can have pancakes on our backcountry trips. Also, the utensils that jet boil makes work well, they telescope, so you eat your dehydrated food right out of the bag and not get your hands messy. I would highly recommend this stove to any type of camper/hiker/backpacker!

I bought my stove several years ago when it was still rather new on the market. I use it to boil water for freeze dried meals, and for hot drinks. Occasionally I'll cook Ramen noodles in the cup. I love how efficient it is, especially with space. Very attractive package when its all closed up.
TIP: I wrap a paper towel around the bottom of my fuel canister before putting it away, this contains any potential rust. Then I slip my plastic fork in (generic polycarbonate, full size), forked end along side the fuel. The stove slides down with the fork handle poking through the center holes. Then the lid goes on with the last two inches of fork handle poking out the drinking hole.
I keep a few tea bags in the bottom mug section. I love how everything is neatly packaged and clean. Quick and simple to use, 2 cup mark in the main cup, the plastic mug is also marked for measuring. I'm no chef, I just want hot water and this is the way to get it.
