Comments about Mammut Element Wiregate Carabiner:
I love this biner! I have a handful and they are great. True they may not be THE lightest, but they weigh in at about half of a traditional D straight gate. If you are looking to shave weight for a great price this is the biner for you. I am a recreational climber and on a budget so for me this is as good as it gets.

Comments about Mammut Element Wiregate Carabiner:
No, it's not the lightest weight carabiner, but it's standard-weight for a wire-gate and can appreciably lighten your rack for at least 25% less $$ than some other wire-gates. I combine these with an 8mm Dyneema sling on my lightweight alpine rack. They have good enough action for me. I also like them because they're full-sized with a good-sized gate opening.

Comments about Mammut Element Wiregate Carabiner:
I put these on my longer alpine slings for ice climbing to avoid frozen gates. Great size and large opening for the weight, but you cant beat the price. Now if only the other Mammut products would come down in price. If I was building a new rack this would be my only wire gate. Use on quick draws and protection pieces.
